• Mausoleo di Santa Costanza - Once above ground again, continue your visit! Next stop will be just behind the Basilica di Saint Agnes, in the Mausoleo di Costanza. In fact, the basilica is part of a larger, prominent palaeo-Christian funerary complex which is also home to a mausoleum dedicated to Costanza, Emperor Constantine’s daughter. Both his daughters, Costanza and Helena’s remains are buried here, and they have been venerated with priceless 4th century mosaics, some of which depict early versions of Jesus – with long hair and a halo – as he is often still depicted today.
