Highlights
- Castel Sant’Angelo - This is our meeting point, the magnificent once Popes’ fortification, right in front of the bridge of Angels crossing over the Tiber, on which water its arches and castle reflect with a magnificent shining effect of lights.
- St. Peter’s Square - We will be photographing Bernini’s square, in heart of the Vatican City, taking shots of the amazing porches and fountain, and of course of the Mother of all Christian churches: St. Peter’s Basilica.
- Via dei Coronari - This is one of the most beautiful and elegant backstreets of Rome, with a wealth of corners and charming little details to be photographed to capture the old soul of Rome.
- Piazza Navona - This Renaissance, Baroque square, sitting on the ancient Domitian Stadium, is one of our main stops. Not only the beauty of its oval shape, and the three gorgeous fountains in it, the most important one being Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers, are amazing subjects to photograph, but this square offers a great chance for an in-depth class on photography and its philosophy. Its buildings, as well as its details, will give us plenty of photo opportunities.
- Pantheon - Facing the relatively small Piazza della Rotonda, the Pantheon is the best-preserved ancient Roman temple of the Eternal City. We will photograph it from different angles, capturing its Greek architecture embedded in a Romanic style later construction. The marble dolphins, marine monsters and gargoyles of the fountain in the middle of Piazza della Rotonda, will also be intriguing subjects for more photos.
- Piazza del Campidoglio - Piazza del Campidoglio is one of the many Michelangelo’s architectures masterpieces, with its amazing symmetric design, Marcus Aurelius equestrian statue in the middle and the beautiful facades of the three buildings on the sides. A perfect set for photos to be taken from many different angles.
- Roman Forum - A viewpoint over the Roman Forum is a magical spot to capture all the glorious beauty of ancient Rome. Columns, old temples and in the distance the Colosseum…. a breathtaking view to be captured by your camera for memories to keep.
- Colosseum - Our tour will end at the most visited archeological site in the world, but at a time when almost nobody will be there blocking our view or standing in front of the camera. The shots of the Colosseum and of Constantine’s arch will be those you always wanted to capture, the most iconic evidence of your Roman holidays and the final great reward for a tour that you’ll wish could last more.

Wonderful photography experience with great resulrsith - I had been to Rome many times before but was never happy with the photos I took - especially the night ones. That was until this night photo tour with Giulio. Guilio not only took me to many of the iconic spots in Rome and showed me the best vantage points from which to photograph them, but also taught me a lot about composition, lighting, and other photographic principles. I came away with dozens of beautiful photos that I will cherish forever and lessons that I can apply anywhere in the world. Guilio was also extremely easygoing and flexible, making the night a fun experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn how to photograph Rome at night, or to just improve their general photography skills.

Best Way to See Rome - We cannot say enough good things about our time with Guilio. We learned so much about photography composition and exposure, plus so many interesting facts about what we were shooting. This was our favorite activity while in Rome. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Great tour of Rome at night - Superb evening touring the main tourist sites of Rome. These 4 hours went by too quickly. Giulio took the time to explain to me how my camera worked, I was starting from scratch and lent me his tripod. He has a very good knowledge of Rome, tells anecdotes about the monuments. and knows very well how to compose a good photo. To do again without hesitation.

If you like photography Guilio is your guy - I booked both the Rome by day and Rome by night tour with Giulio. Both are fantastic. Booking was easy. Giulio's web site lets you pick the date you are interested in and then once booked sends you a confirmation email. A few days before your tour Giulio provides an email with information on where to meet and asks questions about your photography skills, type of gear you will be bringing and what you are hoping to see. Giulio is very responsive, promptly replying to emails and even phone calls. Giulio knows Rome inside and out. The best part was in addition to photographing the well known parts, Coliseum, Pantheon he takes you to less famous but just as beautiful areas that are not crowded letting you take great photos. Giulio is a professional photographer that is able to impart knowledge and skills if that is what you are looking for. However, his focus is on your experience and is content to let you have your best moment as well. If you are looking for a guide to take you around Rome so that you can take great pictures Giulio and Rome Photo Fun Tours is a great value and worth your investment.

Definitely worth it - This is the best time to see Rome. The crowds drop tremendously and you can see what Rome has to offer without seeing all the people. Giulio not only shows you how to use your camera to optimize it for conditions, he ensures he have great shots before moving to the next spot. He explains in detail how each process works while also giving detailed history of the places you visit. He did an amazing job and well worth it for sure. I am much more knowledgeable after this one trip.

Great Night Shots of Rome and a Fun Time - I enjoyed the first Tour I had with Giulio from romephotofuntours so much that I booked the Night Tour as well. Giulio delivered on the Night Tour as well. Great locations and the shots you must get of Rome at night, along with unique and different nighttime opportunities. The instruction and feedback was just what I was looking for along with the specific instruction needed for excellent shots at night. I also very much enjoyed our time together talking about Rome, its history, and what it is like to be a Roman and of course all things photography. I learned so much. What a great time, with great photos and great memories. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was like being in Rome with a very knowledgeable friend. Thanks, Giulio, for such an enjoyable evening, I will see you the next time I am in Italy.

Giulio is fantastic - Giulio is wonderful. Getting around to iconic shots at night and getting images outside the normal. He knows the best angles, and while it’s Rome so no matter what hour there are always some tourists, Giulio makes great conversation and provides historical information as well. The photos were great, but walking around with a local was the best part.

Lovely evening seeing Rome at night! - Wonderful evening-the sights of Rome night! Giulio was super helpful, amazing background as a photographer and a person! Enjoyed the coaching on photography, all of the historical background on the sites we were photographing, and the great conversation!
