Ghosted in Rome - Enjoying Rome on our first day. Wanted to see a bunch of things but had to cut the sight seeing short because of the pub crawl we booked which sounded fun. Even had to cut dinner short so we could make it on time. Arrived at the meeting point 15 minutes early. Instructions say to meet behind the theater. Problem is…there is no behind for the theater. In order to get behind the theater…you literally are walking to an entire different meeting spot as it’s a whole block to walk to. So that didn’t seem right. Tried messaging the host, but I understand the tour operators probably don’t read messages when tours are about to start. I called Viator to see if maybe it was cancelled. They gave me the direct number of the tour operator so I was able to call. No one picked up. Called several times…no answer or even a voicemail system to leave a message. I called Viator back and they said they would try to contact the host. Put me on hold for about 15 minutes. Told me they were unable to reach them as well but they were still trying. Put on hold again and then of course, the call was disconnected. At this point we are almost 20 minutes into the start of the tour. I called Viator back speaking to a different representative and told them at this point I just want my money back. They had to read the notes which stated that they tried reaching out to the host but could not reach them. So they tell me that they will put in a ticket for my refund, however, this is the best part. If they are able to reach the tour operators within 48 hours…then they have to do an investigation as to what happened and that I may possibly not get my refund….WHAT???!!. I told the representative for Viator..we arrived 15 minutes early, we tried called calling the tour operator with no success, you tried calling the tour operator with no success, you literally read all this to me in your notes. So if they decide to finally answer 2 days later…I may not get my money back??!! This pub crawl got a perfect score which is part of the reason why we booked it. Highly recommend messaging the tour operators within for any tour in advance and if they don’t respond back…cancel your tour. Hoping to get my money back from Viator or this will be blown up on social media.
