Additional Information

Delve into a unique and ancient metropolis with a 2-hour guided exploration, revealing eerie snapshots of terror preserved in time, remnants of death, and archaeological remains almost 2000 years old. Meander through ancient avenues where remarkably preserved bakeries, storefronts, marketplaces, private and shared living spaces, public bathrooms, and surprisingly, even places of ill repute persist!

At the end of the guided exploration of Pompeii, we’ll stop by a notable pizzeria known for its genuine Pompeii-style pizza (bear in mind, we’re in the origin of Italian pizza, so the competition is stiff)! Post lunch, we’ll journey back to the core of Naples for further discovery.

Experience the spectacular scenery of Bay of Naples from Posillipo, where you’ll understand why the famous phrase ‘See Naples and die’ rings true. With Vesuvius casting a shadow from afar, admire one of the world’s most naturally and artistically significant cities from an impressive vantage point.

Great day trip! - This is definitely the way to visit Pompeii from Rome if you only have one day. The speed train gets you there fast and it was a nice relaxing ride. Our guide was amazing and really gave us the background and history of Pompeii. Lunch was so good, we had a wonderful appetizer and 3 different kinds of pizza. Highly recommend this tour!

Beautiful Pompeii & Naples trip - Love the tour! Our tour guide Rosanna is super friendly, funny, and courteous. Learn a lot of history, just like the song, if you close your eyes, it almost feel like nothing changed at all...and the walls kept tumbling down in the city that we love. Awesome pizza lunch with different types to try, and wine just keep coming! I love how Rosanna described our little 'chariot' ride around Naples, as we were running a little short on time to steal the last picture of this beautiful place before heading to train station.

A Present Day Trip into the Past - This was the last of 7 tours I had booked for my 12 day stay in Rome. It may be that we saved the best for last. Of possible day trips available from Rome, this was the one my 18 year old grandson had selected. I was a bit nervous about logistics but this tour was well run and gave explicit instructions so not a single question was left unanswered. On arrival in Napoli by high speed train which was really first class travel, we met our guide for the day, Vincenzo. He was a delight. He had total command of the English language which made things very comfortable. Our tour of Pompeii was of course a sample since the area is quite large. But we hit on some major highlights especially the newly restored mansion. Lunch was a short walk away and perhaps one of the best meals we have had on our trip. After we were taken on a bus tour of Naples which included some photos stops along the spectacular coast. A great day from start to finish. Gail Gordon

Awesome - Our trip was wonderful. From the moment we were met at the Rome train station, until we returned that evening, we had professional staff ready to assist. Our tour guide was informative and engaging. The food in Pompeii was good, and the free time in Naples was the perfect amount of time. I highly recommend.

Highly educational and overwhelming. - Feeling like we were among sacred memories and inside their lives before the volcano erupted. Wondering how lives were being lived at that time. Our guide did an excellent job of taking us to that world and time.

Book this tour.... - This trip was amazing. Our guide Rose was funny and knowledgeable. She clearly has a love for her work and shared that with us. From the moment we arrived at Roma Termini we were given clear instructions on where to go and who to look for when we arrived at Naples. They split everyone into smaller groups to ensure we had a more personal experience, each group had no more than 16 people. I would recommend this tour and Italia tours.

Disorganized and Tour Guide Not Caring if older tourists were exhausted! - I felt it was disorganized at Rome Termini as we didn’t get our tickets until checking in. Pompeii/Naples guide very uncaring when bruising my foot while walking on the rock street in Pompeii. Two hours in Pompeii was too long; 1-1/2 hrs would have been sufficient. Older individuals were having problems keeping up with the guide as she went very fast. By the time we reached Naples, my foot was swollen and was limping around. She said catch if you can and never offered me the option to wait on the bus. I tried to go back to the bus and it had left. My husband informed her I went back to the bus and she said to meet her at the mall in Naples. Our group was stuck at the overpriced designer shopping mall for over an hour. We had to walk tirelessly to the bus terminal where the bus picked us up to the train station. The restaurant was advertised to be in Naples but we walked to a Pompeii restaurant . None of the pizzas had a protein on them and weren’t very good. We all had to split pizza and not order what we wanted. One pizza had tomato sauce and 3 black olives on each slice. The other pizza had a glob of ricotta cheese and pineapple. Had to wait to be served the pizza for a long time. Would not recommend this tour. Should stress in description that Pompeii is very hard to navigate.
