Divon was divine! - We didn’t know what to expect when we booked this tour but what little we knew about the history of the catacombs didn’t even touch the surface. Our guide, Divon (the tall pale guy leading the pack) was a wealth of knowledge and his humor kept us hanging on every word. A very memorable day if you don’t mind looking at corpses!

Capuchin Monks and Catacombs Tour - This was a great tour lead by a great guide, Mikaela. She was very knowledgeable and answered all questions the group had. We got to go deep below the city to explore things that I would have definitely missed out on. I’m glad I booked this tour and can’t say enough things about our guide.

Interesting - This was an interesting little tour: probably a little over-priced for the time spent in the actual sites. We first saw about 4 crypt rooms that were very morbidly decorative, with the guide providing some background information about them and the Capuchin monks. Next came a bus drive across town to the catacombs. A local guide took us into the catacombs for about half an hour, providing some information about their history. Then the bus dropped us off in the rain on a street near the meeting point.

The Bone Chapel is the one of the oddest sites I've ever visited! - If you've ever wondered what a chandelier made of human vertebrae looks like then this is the place for you. Although the diagonal pattern of jaw bones and skeleton of a princess on the ceiling really complemented it. The guide was great, very well educated, interesting and with impeccable English. Although the catacombes were so busy with various different tours, and different tour guides, trying to show you specific sites that I wondered if they were playing a game of tig. Which kind of gave the place a pythonesque rather than a spiritual feeling.

Capuchin crypt was definitely the highlight - Booked this tour through city wonders , the capuchin crypt wasn’t what we was expecting from the photo you expect walls made from the skulls of the 4000 monks it was so much more ! I don’t want to spoilt it by saying what the crypts were like but it was the highlight of the tour for us , as with all tours you go along for the historical facts and our guide was very knowledgeable and really tried to bring it to life as best he could after the catacombs it was a short journey back to our meeting point and our filled us in on how to get the best experience of Rome and how not to be fooled by over expensive restaurants that you wouldn’t go back to , we followed one of his directions and had a lovely evening meal in a little Italian resturant ,that even the locals we’re queuing to get into !

Didn’t meet expectations - We were SO excited for this experience, but walked away feeling disappointed. Our experience in the catacombs, specifically, lacked the lively, interesting commentary we had hoped for.

Not worth doing - The tour wasn’t really worth doing. Our guide Inti was trying to be funny but failed. He also gave his personal views on religion and said that it wasn’t worth going to the colosseum or the Vatican. Whilst he is entitled to his opinions I don’t think this was the right audience to share them with

Horrible Service by City Wonders - We had booked a tour 2 months in advance for the Crypt and Catacombs after hours via Klook. This was something we came to Rome specifically to experience. As we arrived on the 16th July at 4.20pm, I approached a young Italian man wearing the city wonders polo shirt. He asked me if my name was Candy and I said no. I showed him my ticket saying crypt and catacomb tour and he asked for my name, as I told him he has said “oh, I remember this name you missed your tour”, I asked how could I have missed my tour when it says meet at 4.45pm and 15 minutes before. He then had the audacity to say that it wasn’t his problem and that I could not join the tour because there was “not enough seats left” that this was Klook’s fault not City Wonders. As I started getting aggravated, he was contacting the company to see what went wrong. The final result was that we could not go on the tour and we could not go on the following day as it was sold out. We also were flying out on the 18th. This man that was at Piazza Barberini was not apologetic, insincere and basically did not care that they had stuffed up. He said I had to call up city wonders to sort it out myself. As I was fuming, I made him call them right away to deal with this issue. Nothing could be done and nothing else was available, we were left stranded and told we would have a refund and that was it. This is extremely disappointing coming from all the way from Australia to see catacombs. I have read other reviews about City Wonders not playing their part on refunds, so I shall see what happens in the near future.

Terrible customer service - I wish I could give a zero !! We travelled to Rome to do this tour and booked the tour for 4:45pm in July 16. We arrived on time (early) at 4:30pm. We found the tour guide to be only told we had missed the tour. Apparently our names were put down for 2:30pm. We had booked ours in May. Two other people on the tour had booked the tour today. I am guessing they sold our tickets to them. The tour guide stated that it was our problem not the companies. He stated we could get a refund. I told him a refund means nothing when I have come all this way for the experience. It appears the company is only interested in getting Money and that’s it. Book with a different company
