Lastly, our trip goes to the Basilica of San Giovanni in Laterano, Rome’s cathedral. It stands as the parent and head of all churches in Rome and across the globe. On the left side of the square lays the Scala Santa: this, as per tradition, is the same staircase that Jesus ascended in the Praetorium of Pontius Pilate.
Tucked in the right corner of the square is the Baptistery, constructed by Constantine where he is believed to have been baptized by San Silvestro.
