Highlights
  • Villa d’Este - We will leave the alluring ruins of the 2nd century A.D. far behind as we travel on to the 14th century to our second destination, Villa d’Este - one of the most beautiful Renaissance villas in Italy. This splendid palace, with its extraordinary gardens filled with hundreds of fountains, will leave you feeling captivated. Bernini’s monumental Neptune’s Fountain is considered the most impressive, its water jets reaching a height of 10 meters. Not to say that the Central Fountain and the Oval Fountain won’t leave you equally in awe.
  • Villa Adriana - This enchanting day trip from Rome begins with a 40-minute bus ride to Hadrian’s Villa. The vastness of Hadrian’s estate is a sight that will surely impress. The Emperor chose to build his residence outside the city in a place rich in water, in order to build the famous Canopus, one of the most preserved sites left in the complex. The statues surrounding this pool of water create stunning reflections on its surface, beautifully surrounded by luscious green gardens.

Book the Tour, Skip the Lunch - This is a great tour and we had a fantastic guide who was knowledgable, interesting, funny and personable. Thank you, Marta (you said it would be Marsha in English). We took this tour with our adult daughter in part because we were in Rome without a car and wanted to see some things outside the city. We were picked up at the meeting point promptly, although there was a bit of confusion about the actual meeting point as it is basically just on street and not well marked. We were on a large comfortable bus and went first to the ruins of Hadrian's villa. With the earphone and audio aid everyone can hear and follow along, so all good. This is a destination for archeology buffs and extremely interesting and beautiful, and the explanations of what was once there helped us to reimagine the estate as it once was. Incredible. But you are walking in the hot sun for quite a bit of the tour so bring water and wear a hat. From there we went to the town of Tivoli for lunch. You can buy ticket for the tour that includes lunch, or buy a lower-priced ticket and buy your own lunch in Tivoli. BUY YOUR OWN LUNCH! We didn't and regret it. The lunch we were served was very substandard, especially for Italy where you have to work at eating bad food. Tasteless, slapped together, and uninteresting. There are plenty of really interesting little restaurants and cafes in Tivoli that are not crowded, and you have plenty of time to find one, sit down and enjoy a good meal. You'll get WAY better food, sadly. After eating you visit the renaissance Villa d'Este and this was the highlight of trip for me. An astounding creation of art, architecture and landscaping. And the guide knew and explained the history beautifully. Totally worth the price of admission!

Only OK Tour - This was our least favorite tour in Italy. The guides did not compare with others we had in other archaeological places, and we were sorry to have used up a day better spent in Rome.

Very busy. Without much explanation - There is not enough time to visit the village of Adriano. We didn't even see half of the place. The information given by the guide was minimal. Everything was based on really accelerated speed. The same happened in his village, although he was another guide. We were not able to observe the works of art in the Palace, and the visit to the gardens was based on a fast paced walk. It's best to take the train and make the journey on your own.

Bad experience, impose to find meeting point. - Beware, we got sketchy pickup meeting directions that after walking for 45 min we couldn’t find even with GPS or the help of locals and when we called the number provided and asked for help we got yelled at as they claimed they were waiting for us for 15 mins at the pickup point that did not exist or impossible to find to say the least. Beware you might get ripped off your money not nice people with a very shady way to business. I do not recommend.

Avoid - worst travel company experience. - Do not book a tour with Enjoy Rome. Having booked a tour with Enjoy Rome in May for a September date I contacted them directly requesting a confirmation voucher and was advised not necessary turn up on the day. Turned up on the day of booking to be advised that my booking was for May, they couldn't assist me, couldn't accommodate me on the tour and refuse to refund monies paid. Customer Service team are unprofessional, unhelpful, and at no time during June/July email exchange did they check the booking date allowing time for the matter to be resolved prior to my visit to Rome. Avoid
