Eating like Locals in Rome - We had a wonderful Sunday mid day food tour with Martina. Her enthusiasm for Rome and its food was amazing and she knows all the best places! We ate like real locals eating local specialities — pizza, charcuterie, fried rice balls, coffee and tiramisu. Highly recommended!

Best Roma Food - My partner and I are foodies, we love travelling and sampling the local cuisine in different countries. Today we enjoyed a Rome half day food tour guided by Roberta in the Trastevere district. The tour was well planned, Roberta is knowledgeable about the local cuisine and the general area. One of the high lights was when a small egg carton was presented to the table, initially we thought it was real eggs but in fact the egg cups were ceramic cups filled with truffle and egg yoke and the other one was filled with cheese, egg white and courgette, delicious. There were several stops through the district to taste different foods, Yum.

A true taste of Rome - Definitely a must when you’re in Rome. Took us off the beaten path with a unique culinary experience. Great information and loved the little stop to a local church. Our tour guide was kind enough to keep us informed of where he was located when we were running late to the tour. My favorite was the carbonara sauce and lemon basil gelato.

Travestere and Food - Our guide Mauru? was informative and well spoken, though he did walk very fast and we had a toddler, stroller and baby in our tour. Cobblestones and a stroller are not a good fit. The bakery, suppli, cheese/meat sampling and gelato was very very good. The pizza and pasta were crap…especially the pizza which he said was the best in Travestere. No taste and 95% crust. If this is the best pizza around,I’d drop pizza off the tour. The pasta carbonara was , at best, room temperature, bland and served in small metal frying pans, which the pasta absorbed the metallic taste. Again, if this was the best pasta, I’d toss it in the pizza category and dump both. Travestere is a fun, happening place.
