Discovering Dominica: A Day with Island Gemz and Kevin
When I heard about the Morne Trois Piton National Park Excursion, I knew I had to experience it for myself. Join me as I explore the lush landscapes and hidden gems of Dominica with Island Gemz and our fantastic guide, Kevin.
A Private Adventure with Island Gemz
The moment I set foot on the island of Dominica, I knew I was in for something special. The lush greenery and vibrant culture were calling my name, and I was ready to dive into the heart of it all. My partner and I were greeted by Kevin, our guide from Island Gemz, who promised us a day full of exploration and wonder. As a former professional surfer, I’ve traveled to many islands, but Dominica’s charm was unparalleled. Kevin’s enthusiasm for his island was infectious, and we were eager to see what lay ahead.
Our first stop was a fresh water lake nestled high in the mountains. The drive up was an adventure in itself, with winding roads and breathtaking views at every turn. Kevin shared stories of the island’s history and pointed out where a new cable gondola was being installed, promising even more spectacular views in the future. We took a moment to engage with local vendors, savoring homemade vanilla and fresh juice. It was a delightful way to connect with the island’s culture and people.
The Thrill of Titou Gorge
The highlight of our day was undoubtedly the swim through Titou Gorge. As someone who feels at home in the water, I was thrilled to navigate the series of natural rooms and ponds formed by high cliff walls. The swim was invigorating, and the hidden waterfall at the end was a sight to behold. Kevin was there every step of the way, capturing photos and ensuring we had the best experience possible. Unlike the large cruise ship groups, we had the gorge almost to ourselves, making the experience even more magical.
After our swim, we made our way to Trafalgar Falls. The twin waterfalls were majestic, and the short walk to the viewpoint was well worth it. Kevin recommended a nearby restaurant for lunch, and we enjoyed a delicious meal with a stunning view of the falls. It was the perfect way to recharge before our next adventure.
Relaxation at the Hot Springs
Our final stop was the Ti Kwen Glo Cho Hot Springs. The natural hot springs were a soothing balm for our muscles after a day of exploration. The climb down to the springs was a bit of a workout, but the lush vegetation and tranquil setting made it all worthwhile. We soaked in the warm, mineral-rich waters, feeling rejuvenated and at peace.
As the day came to a close, Kevin took us to a beautiful overlook of the town, where we could see our cruise ship in the distance. It was a fitting end to a day filled with adventure, relaxation, and the beauty of Dominica. I left the island with a newfound appreciation for its natural wonders and a desire to return. If you’re ever in Dominica, I highly recommend exploring with Island Gemz for an unforgettable experience.
