Owned by the Berger family since 1972, this hotel is steeped in history and adorned with antiquities. It serves as a reminder of the town’s enduring charm and the importance of preserving its cultural heritage.

The Fleisch- und Tanzhaus, with its White Tower adjoining the Jewish Dance House, was another fascinating stop. Part of the original fortifications when the city expanded, this site bears the scars of history, having been partially destroyed by American bombs in March 1945. Yet, like much of Rothenburg, it has been lovingly restored, standing as a symbol of resilience and renewal.

Our final stop was the Rothenburg Town Hall, or Rathaus, a magnificent example of Gothic architecture dating back to 1250. This important renaissance building has served as a city-state seat for the government since the medieval ages. Climbing its accessible tower, I was rewarded with breathtaking views of the town and surrounding countryside, a fitting end to our historical journey.
