Very interesting - The tour is super nice, Luke our guide was very engaging and gave us plenty of information. We not only learned about the reserve, but also about Māori culture, and some fun facts about New Zealand’s nature and history. Top experience.

Beautiful place - A beautiful walk, so many different things in one spot! We missed the guided tour by an hour but managed to catch up to one and stuck with them. The tour guide Luke was very informative and nice. He even gave us some special mud to try on the walk, which I swear worked wonders on my acne scarred skin. Either that mud or the mud spa mud, who’s to say. Either way, super cool and learned some interesting stuff while also seeing some interesting sights.

Great - I did the guarded walk and also the mud bath. Firstly, the guy did walk was with a gentleman called Liam who was really really great. Stop. He was so informative and funny that it really made the walk. So fantastic. This is definitely a place to visit and the mud bath was just superb.

Amazing guided walk - A brilliant place to go especially the guided walk, our guide was very knowledgeable. It took nearly 2 hours but so much awesome information. We would have just walked right past many of the areas of interest. The wood carving was fun as well, your own little carving to take home.

Walking trip - The whole trip is so fascinating although one should be aware that this is actually more than an hour walk. The wood carving station is also fantastic!

Fantastic!! - Completely worth booking the tour through the Geothermal Reserve. Our guide, Luuk was amazing! He had a great sense of humor and a lot of knowledge. We learned a lot from him. He was also very patient with our questions and took the time to take pictures for us. You can do the tour without a guide but the guide adds so much more to the experience. The mud bath was an amazing experience. It was very relaxing. Also in August there are less tourists, so we basically had the bath to ourselves! I think during summer it is much, much busier! You can shower in private showers near the baths instead of the open change rooms (I did not like the open change rooms). The employees are all very helpful and pleasant. We used old bathing suits for the mud bath and disposed of them afterwards. Some people say the smell lingers on your skin for days, but we did not find it stayed for more than a day. Overall a great experience and we would do it again if we come back to New Zealand.

Not to be missed - Definitely worth the guided tour! Really beautiful to look at and enjoyed learning about the facts and stories told with it from our amazing guide Luke! Special mention to Luke he made the experience 10x better. We enjoyed do the woodwork shop afterwards I didn't get the older gentleman's name but he was also wonderful to interact with. It was an afternoon/evening we will remember fondly ☺️ all the staff were friendly, welcoming and approachable, but those two gentleman stood out to us. Then doing the mud bath and spas with a cold plunge *optional* was very relaxing with a stunning view. Can't recommend enough!!!!

Geothermal guided tour - We attended the guided tour of the geothermal reserve and I could not rate this experience enough. Our guide (with the very long name ) was fantastic with a rich knowledge of the Maori culture. The mud spa was also a fabulous place to relax and unwind.

Amazing - The size of the activity was impressive. Large areas of geothermal activity. Of special interest was the bush walk and the sulphur effect on the trees. Well worth the cost. Enjoyed the ambience😊 Should be advertised locally
