- We recommend that women do not use our bathing facilities whilst pregnant. However, it is an individual’s choice and we recommend that you seek advice from your health professional if you are wanting to bathe.
- Not recommended for travelers with heart problems or other serious medical conditions
- The minimum age for the Mud Bath is 2.5 years, and for the Sulphur Spa is 6 months.
- Children are considered those aged 5 -15. Under 4s are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Hell's Gate is located just outside of Rotorua's city centre. From the city simply travel east on State Highway 30. At approximately 5 minutes past the airport, you will turn right towards Whakatane. Hell's Gate is 3kms down this road.

Great tour and spa experience - We had a very pleasant and interesting morning at Hells Gate. Our guide, Ngati, was so informative and also very funny as he showed us round the various natural hot pools, all of which are different. The mud bath spa afterwards was great too. Highly recommend.

Great tour and fun time. - First off my groups tour guides Luke and Kiara were fantastic. They were funny, informative, kind and full of information. Loved that they responded to my jokes as well and gave little bits of fun info along the way. The tour itself was quite nice lots of see and learn. Great walk and tour. I would always suggest to go on the tour when coming to Hells gate. Now buckle up as the rest of the experience is just as great. After the tour you get to craft with some wood learning traditional techniques to do so. Afterward you can dice into the mud pool which feels amazing. Once you spend your 20 minutes(due to health reasons) you can then freely enjoy the hot pools and the one cold plunge. Such a great experience. Anyone looking to relax, learn, have a great walk and meet interesting people. Should definitely come here. Thanks for the great time.

Mud Spa in a geothermal environment - Very enjoyable experience in a thermal pool with mud that moisturizes the skin. Totally recommend those passing by Rotorua to go for it.

A beautiful walk in the middle of the springs - We had chosen the 1.5 hour walk without guide from the opening at 10am and it was a great experience. The whole route is perfectly marked and explained. I recommend it for those who love a quiet walk and photos!

Great experience but wish we had more time - It was a great experience overall with the Sulfur & mudpools, however we felt a bit rushed while we were in the mudpool so have rated 4 instead of 5 stars.

Strictly ok - Ok experience but Expected more for the amount of money paid for! Just a mere 20-25 mins experience hoping that it wl work for the skin. For the kind of service we get, half of the listed price shd have been charged.

Hells gate - Expensive for what it was and compared to Polynesian springs with no mud in the buckets too crowded free lockers were good

Disappointing experience - Poor value.
Was expecting more. Only 2 sulphur pools after the mud pools.
Very disappointed. Only spent 90 minutes there.

Honestly would have been... - Honestly would have been a good experience but sharing the mud pool was hard when me and my partner were sharing with inconsiderate tourists who ruined the whole experience for us and felt like a waste of $180
