Very informative and enjoyable - Very informative tour and very ethical and respectful of the kiwis. It was wonderful to learn about the kiwi and everything that is being done to protect them. I didn’t realise kiwis were so big and heavy. We were able to hold weighted objects to get a better understanding of the kiwi’s weight at different life stages. Highly recommend for animal and nature lovers

Fulfilling a Childhood Dream: A Close Encounter with the Brown Kiwi at Rotorua's National Kiwi Hatchery - The National Kiwi Hatchery in Rotorua made my childhood dream come true by allowing me to come face to face with the elusive Brown Kiwi. These magnificent birds are incredibly rare to spot outside of captivity, but at the hatchery, I was fortunate enough to witness five of them within just an hour. Tracy, our knowledgeable guide, ensured that our group had ample time to observe and appreciate these remarkable creatures. The genuine passion and dedication of the hatchery volunteers shone through during my visit. The volunteers work tirelessly to protect the Kiwis from the threats posed by invasive and domestic pests and to care for ethically recovered eggs. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Rotorua, I highly recommend visiting The National Kiwi Hatchery. It's an experience that will leave a lasting impression.

An unforgettable tour which gave a unique insight into New Zealand's national icon - the Kiwi - The National Kiwi Hatchery Experience is a great tour to learn about and observe New Zealand's national icon - the Kiwi. Amazing displays were backed up by an informative as well as friendly presentation by our guide - Taria. There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout the tour - all questions were answered. We observed newly hatched Kiwi chicks as well as witnessed the early stages of a chick attempting to break out of his/her egg. Older Kiwi were able to be seen in other viewing areas foraging for food. The tour was very well organised - right from when we checked in and were transported by Taylor to the nocturnal house.

Will be back! - Wonderful staff, amazing experience. Beyond all expectations! Great family activity when its raining as well which is a huge plus in the area. Overall had a great time, learnt lots and really enjoyed our time. Would definitely visit again as all money goes to such a wonderful cause. Was lucky enough to see a Kiwi who hatched the day before!

Briwn Kiwua: from egg to hatching to newly born. Conservation efforts to save kiwi , the national bird of New Zealand - Amazing. Must see. Conservation efforts to save kiwis. All proceeds goes to this cause. Saw a 3 day old brown kiwi. Learned about the process from egg (father incubates eggs) to hatchling to going out on their own at 10 days. January and September are the hatching times and must have reservation at these times.

Wonderful - It is always lovely to see these gorgeous birds and to learn about them; their habitats, life span and breeding. We were very fortunate to see three baby Kiwi and even see one up close being moved from the hatchery to the creche. One of the babies had only hatched the day before. Knowing 100% of our ticket cost has gone to the conservation of Kiwi was the best part.

Kiwi birds will surprise you. They are angry birds 😂 - Such an interesting trip. We learned so much about Kiwi’s, and we’re really surprised that they are such angry little birds. Highlight was seeing 2 babies born the morning of our tour. The woman that did our tour was really knowledgeable, fun, and passionate about their cause. Only downside, I wish our tour had been longer, especially in the nocturnal house
