Authentic and moving - Amazing experience. The walk through the grounds is spiritual, which is not like me to say. The guide, Michael, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate. The performance was the best we saw in NZ, and we saw most (expensive, remote...5 different ones in total on both islands) in our three week trip. The singers were exceptional and the entire experience was by far the best cultural moments we spent in the country. It was truly authentic. But the standout from our visit was Shane, who was so kind, knowledgeable and sincere. Kia ora, to all of you who made our trip discovering our Maori heritage so special.

Loved it! - We had the best guide. I wish I could spell her name. Since she grew up the village, she was able to lend a personal note to the experience and make us feel connected to what it was like in the "olden" days. The sights were amazing, but the stories were the best. The cultural show was impressive and a hoot.

Life in a working village - Very interesting and insightful tour of a working village. The mud pools, steam and boiling water are fascinating. Seeing the different cooking methods was interesting and we even tasted corn cooked from the hot pools - so sweet and tasty! We got to see the Geyser in full flight. There used to be a strong sulphuric smell which can be off putting, but this is really what Rotorua and the villages are all about. Our tour leader was very passionate and informative

This is a must do tour. Ask for Phillip. He was a great guide! Excellent - Phillip was a great guide. He was friendly, and told lots of stories from his village and his family. He was very informative and gave us lots of knowledge about history, volcanoes and village life. The sweet corn that was cooked for us was delicious! Great tour! Thankyou! 🙏🙏

Exceptional Service and an Outstanding Experience - - “Our guide was really good, she knew a lot about the history of the village, as well as local history and she answered all our questions. Thank you Whaka village for organising this tour for us.” - “I learnt a lot about the long history of guiding in Rotorua and at Whakarewarewa. We learnt how females of their tribe would be the guides and how they have welcomed guests from all over the world, even the Royals. Thank you to our guide for sharing the history of her tribe and the village with us all.” - “Whakarewarewa has so much history. The people of the village live and breathe their culture every day and the way their share it with visitors from around the world is amazing. Thank you for organising this visit.” - “I really enjoyed this tour. We were so lucky to hear stories from our guide, about Whaka village. I have heard some of these stories before but some of them I have never heard, like stories about our guides family and how they have continually adapted to the changing environment at Whaka.” - “I enjoyed all the stories and knowledge that our guide shared with us today. I learnt so much more about Whakarewarewa village and its people and now I appreciate it so much more. Thank you.”

Well worth the visit to learn about history and how to life off the natural environment - We went on the last tour of the day and was meet by a very enthusiastic maori providing us with an indepth knowledge of the village. Explaining how they lived their life's, cooked (the sweet corn was a great little treat and tasted wonderful). It was certainly interesting to learn about how the natural springs are used in their daily chores, bathing and cooking. We walked around the natural environment ourselves, it takes a while to get used to the sulphur smell, if you get used to it!
