A completely different approach to life - Fascinating tour of a communal living experience among the hot pools and geysers, making use of the natural resources to live in a very unique environment.

The thermal village reserve outside. - So interesting we took the tour twice. So much to see and learn about the Arawa warriors and Māori maidens plus to see the Geysers popping up all over the place. The steam raising up and out . And the living homes of many of the staff still on site. This is worth the travel to get to Rotorua’ we had cooked sweetcorn from a ground steamer in the village just outstanding. The pictures I’ve taken do not do it justice….

Great cultural learning experience for the family. - Daniel was an amazing tour guide with the voice and face of an angel! Fully of energy and engaging with adult and kids alike. We really did leave the tour with greater appreciation and understanding of the history of rotorua and the cultures here. Thank you for the great tour and I'd highly recommend this tour in Waka!

Great way to experience nature and culture together - Our guide Mari was a wonderful story teller and a great custodian of her culture and her people. The tour took about 90 mins and we heard the story of the families of the village over the generations. Great to have up close experience with the geysers and the pools. It was worth the admission price.

So special - Our guide was amazingly warm, knowledgable and funny. So special to have someone from the village take us through. The experience of tasting the hot springs cooking was an unexpected bonus! Everyone in our group - Kiwi’s and tourists had a great time. We had a small group of just 4 which was amazing.

Disappointed - I took visitors from Sweden to the village. They were very impressed by the history, the volcanic activity, our guide's knowledge, and the amazing village itself. However, we were shocked that the guide used every opportunity to push her political and historical opinions and views upon us, a captive audience, at every opportunity, in what amounted to hate speech against Christians and those who colonized this country. She is of course welcome to her views, I respect that, but this was not the right arena to voice them.
