Great day out - OK so you have sometimes a bit wary of Zoo's You never know if the animal welfare will be good. No worries about Rotterdam Zoo all the animals we saw were perfectly looked after and all seem quite happy. This Zoo is huge and if like me you have problems walking you may have to get in one of the wheelchairs the Zoo has you can use them for a €50 you get the money back it did make my day a bit easier. Great cafe on site. We didn't manage to make it all the way round so we will be going back.

Awesome! - Lots and lots of animals! Nice playground. I can walk around here for a week! I've been there since I was in a buggy and it's still breathtaking! I love animals.

Worth a visit - We stopped here to kill some time whilst waiting for our check in for the over ferry to hull. The zoo was amazing, staff were friendly and it was clean. Sign posts all round to tell you where each animal were. Was bigger than we thought and could have spent more time there. Would go back if we were close by.

Great zoo - Very good, lots too see. Oceanarium is a highlight. Lots for you kids. Sadly the butterflies appeared closed, which was the only letdown.

Amazing trip - The zoo was wonderful. It was really nice to see the animals. This is a really good trip for families, couples even friends. I'd definitely recommend it. Also it's only 15 mins by bus from Rotterdam Central, so it's really not far.

Great zoo. - Enjoyed our experience. Lots of animals and took some great photos. Lots to do if you have children with plenty of play areas and picnic/cafe areas . Lots of walking! Wear comfy shoes! Not so busy when we went so could get up close to the enclosures. My daughters especially loved the red pandas and the Oceanatic tunnel.

Really bad experience in Blijdorp! Big Changes Necessary! - This zoo made me go absolutely mental, there was a sort of trap festival literally on the other side of the polar bears inclosure. Absolutely disgusting to hear! How do you allow that? Trains are constantly going across, you can hear cars where they have red pandas & the tapir. I was so so sad to see the location of this zoo, which brings zero tranquility for me & animals. Butterfly area completely abandoned & zero information about it, Australia & Europe areas closed. With purchasing a plush of 11€, 20 cents go to an actual cause. Inclosure's need to be bigger, the zoo needs to be bigger. Dedicate more money from your customer's to make this zoo better. I don't recommend going unless they start making big changes. Please, please, please don't spend your money there.

Unethical and Non-Accessible. - This is the worst zoo that I have ever been to. All of the animals are in enclosures that are far too small, and are very stressed, pacing constantly. The worst being the polar bear, which was constantly flipping and performing the same behaviour underwater, which is an obvious sign of boredom and distress. The rhinos and elephants were locked outside of their house, pacing and also performing the same behaviours, they very clearly did not have access to the indoor area which is where they wanted to be. One of the rhinos were also quite underweight. They were kept separate and wanted to be together and was very distressing to watch. The Pygmy hippo seems to be on its own, with only a very small enclosure. It only had a small amount of water too. All of the animals seemed lethargic as if they had lost the will to live. Not only that, it’s incredibly inaccessible with certain areas being closed off to wheelchair users, such as the top of the sea lion exhibit and the Chinese Turin area. This meant that I had to get someone to carry my wheelchair down and up the steps which if a person was permanently in a wheelchair, would simply not be appropriate. Another thing that I am saddened to report is that of a member of the volunteer staff pointed at me when I was sat in my wheelchair. I found this very distressing, as I felt as if my disability was being made fun of. Overall, my experience of this zoo was absolutely terrible, and I would not recommend it to anyone, I feel so sorry for the animals being held captive here.

Felt like watching real life tragedy - It was really sad experience to watch the animals in such a small spaces, it was rather depressive than enjoyable, I would not recommend. I think the zoo should invest in more space for the animals and maybe also more care, because they seem extremally lonely.
