An unforgettable family Aurora experience! - Victor's safe and friendly guide allowed us to have an unforgettable and enjoyable experience in Rovaniemi. Since my children are 8 and 10 years old, I wanted to go on a fun aurora hunting trip with the family, and this was the perfect trip! Victor explained the schedule and aurora forecast in detail from the time we departed, and upon arriving at Lake TIPI, he kindly told us about the area around the lake and the location of the aurora. The weather was so cold that my feet got cold, but the kids had a lot of fun eating warm firewood, tea (glogi), ginger cookies (piparkakku), and grilling sausages in the cottage. As soccer fanatics, we had an even more enjoyable time with our children who had recently traveled to Spain and were interested in their soccer talks :) Thanks to Victor's explanation, the two children were able to understand the principles of how aurora appears, and were thrilled and exclaimed when they saw the aurora in the form of a rainbow band. As time went by and it got colder, even when we were warming ourselves by the wood fire, Victor went outside every now and then to check the aurora situation and called us at important times. Thanks to this, we were able to see the beautiful, fantastic and ever-changing aurora several times. Thank you for being willing to take pictures of our family. (I was a little disappointed that I did not prepare a good camera ~) Thank you again to Victor for giving our family a precious Northern Lights experience and wonderful memories in Rovaniemi ~ (I am especially grateful for the warm and professional guide.) Next time, if I am lucky enough to come to Rovaniemi again, I would like to sign up for another experience at Nordic Adventure!!

Fun time chasing the lights - We did two tours with Nordic Adventures in February 2022. We enjoyed the private hut tour but unfortunately didn’t see the lights that night. The hut was about 30 mins drive from Santa’s Village south of Rovianemi. The hut is a little house with a table and chairs. It had plenty of room for warming up. We hung out on the dock on the frozen lake looking for the lights while the kids played in the snow. Our guide Alex was really nice. He made sausages and hot juice and got a sled and snow toys out for the kids. It was great to have the hut to go in and warm up. There is also a rustic bathroom which is a plus when your kids are chugging berry juice! The only con to this tour is that you are in a fixed location and not moving to find the lights. Alex did offer to stop somewhere else on the way back but it was after midnight and our kids were exhausted. This tour ran from 9pm to 1am so keep that in mind with kids. But with the chance to play in the snow and warm up frequently, they were fine for the duration of the tour. Alex also showed us how to set up our camera even though we ended up not taking pictures. We also did the three hour mini bus tour the next night and saw the lights then. If you have time to do a few tours, I’d recommend this one as we had fun despite no lights. If you only have one night to chase lights, I think I’d choose the three hour minibus tour with Nordic Adventures as that one moves around based on the forecast. I was happy to have the chance to try to different tours.. I did a lot of research and I think the price with Nordic Adventures was a bit better than some other companies as not all companies offered a kid rate. I also liked that the group size was maximum 7-8. We were a group of five and ended up with no one else in our tours either night, It would have been fine to have a couple more people but it was nice to spread out in the van and not worry about Covid.

Foxfire tour - Our guide Allex attentively looked after our family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 young kids)We loved his stories about the region and insights to life in Lapland . He made sure we enjoyed our tour, stayed warm and got amazing photos! He even extended a helping hand to a group of people who had their car stuck in snow. Thank you Alex !
