Just like visiting family - During the 2 years of COVID, the gorillas apparently missed the "visitors" so much they wandered down into the local villages looking for them. We felt privileged to visit these primates in their home jungle. Our guide, porters and gunman were exceptional. Our gorilla family was quite a mobile one, which meant we had to walk quite awhile to catch up, helped by porters through dense jungle of the Virunga Mtns. On arrival, our family was sleeping, or trying to without much success due to the antics of the littlest member of the troupe who kept jumping on the other gorillas trying to entice them to play. We visited for an hour watching them play, snooze, eat and interact with each other. Our guide was "speaking" to the family anytime they appeared unsettled which resulted in a spectacular visit for us. We started to leave when the Silverback decided it was time for the family to move on as well, and the entire family trouped past us, nearly trodding on our toes. We got it all on film and video and we were delighted with our experience. Top knotch service by our guides and porters, who helped us over the jungle floor which is littered with vegetation, fall tree trunks and vines. It was a memorable day and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Agashya family welcomes us to share a moment in the jungle - I didn't know what to expect. It was a long walk through difficult terrain. We were encouraged to hire porters to carry our bags and help us along the more difficult spots. These porters were once the poachers in these jungles, now they support themselves and their families by helping us get to experience the wonder of these magnificent creatures. As we got close to our Gorilla family (The Agashya family) I started to feel electrified and giddy. Was I really going to spend an hour with Gorillas??? Our family was one of the largest with 21 members and 3 silverbacks. Gorillas do not kick out the alpha once he gets old. His sons, though stronger than him, respect his place in the family until death. We turned a corner and our amazing guide Roger warns us that the gorillas are close and then suddenyl I am 4 feet away from the giant alpha silverback.!!! I was initially shocked, how were we permitted to be so close???, other Gorillas were grazing only a few more feet away, I was certain we were going to be attacked but we were barely acknowledged. I am in awe of how tolerant and accepting these Gorillas are. We watched lovers flirt and a little chest-beating to show prowess, we watched children jump and play. We saw young ones fall out of trees and giant silverbacks lie on their backs and play with their feet. This was the experience of a lifetime. I cannot even begin to explain the feelings that this trip left me with or the warmth in my heart at being able to have this experience. I am ever greatful of the guides, guards and porters that all made this an epic day to remember.

Fantastic tour company! Highly recommended - I had an amazing time on my gorilla trek! Judith Safaris is fantastic company to organise your trip through, they’re very reliable and very friendly. They were also super helpful in getting me organised for me trip (eg with regards to the Covid test (Dec 22)) and picking me up at my hotel the morning of the trip. I had an amazing time with the gorillas, made possible only through the dedicated organisation by Judith Safaris :)

Excellent tour to see the Rwanda Gorillas - I arranged for a one day visit to see the Gorillas at the very last minute. Sharon from Judith Safaris was fantastic in helping me get everything together and providing excellent information on what to expect on the trip. For example, I had to get a PCR test on Saturday with results coming the same day. Sharon told me where to go, sent me a pin for transportation, and told me how to make it clear I needed the result that day. Sylvie was my driver and guide for the day. She was wonderful and took great care of me. Her english is excellent (not unexpected but important to travelers), she is fun and engaging, she took care of all the details, and was timely in all our activities. Seeing the gorillas was amazing. The trekking was completely doable though not easy. I always look for women owned businesses to support and this one over delivers on value

A flawless day in great company - I had an amazing day. Everything was done as agreed. From the booking experience to the preparations to the actual day-trip, everything was flawless. The gorilla trek was an amazing experience and I chose to add a visit to the Ellen de Generes campus after being recommended to do it by Judith Safaris. My driver Janet was a really safe driver and the car was good quality. Janet is also a really cool person, and we had a lot of interesting talks on the way there and back. It was a chill and relaxing day in good company. I would choose Judith Safaris again If I was to return to Rwanda.
