Rurrenabaque - Santa Rosa Refuge

Rurrenabaque - The journey will begin at 8:30 am from Rurrenabaque, with comfortable cars for a 3-hour ride to Santa Rosa, small town in the middle of the jungle. On the way, you will be able to see many species of birds, capybaras, and even sloths.

River Yacuma - Upon arrival at Santa Rosa’s port, after lunch, we will travel by river to the Refugio. During the journey, we will be able to appreciate the typical “sabana” landscape of Beni and encounter animals such as monkeys, turtles, caimans, and capybaras. There will be plenty of opportunities to take beautiful pictures. Upon arrival at the lodge, you’ll enjoy a nice welcome drink and get comfortable in your room.

River Yacuma

River Yacuma - The day will start early as we travel by boat to watch the sunrise from the Yacuma River. After breakfast, we take a short excursion through small woods and lagoons, with a chance to spot an “anaconda.”

River Yacuma - We’ll return to the lodge and after lunch, we’ll get back on the boats to search for the famous “bufeo” or pink dolphin, we can swim on the river avoiding having close contact with the species.

River Yacuma - After dinner, a short “night trip” is planned where we will search for nocturnal animals and try to spot the shining eyes of the caimans, which is sure to be a unique exciting experience.

Awaisal Indigenous community - Rurrenabaque

River Yacuma - After an early breakfast at 5:30 am, we will depart from the lodge by boat until we reach Santa Rosa. From there, we will take a one-hour car ride to reach the indigenous community of Awaisal. During this journey, we will have the opportunity to see many animals, including the rare black beard macaw. Once in the community, we will also search for the “lucachi” monkey, which is endemic to the “pampas” region. We will have time to interact with the locals, and learn about their history, way of life, their handicrafts, and much more. In the afternoon, after lunch, we will transfer back to Rurrenabaque by car, with an expected arrival around 5 pm.

It’s important to note that we do not offer activities like swimming with river dolphins or any other close contact with nature, following international standards of conservation.
