Akagera National Park offers a truly exceptional wildlife experience, and it is the only Big-five reserve in Rwanda. Akagera comprises some of the most scenic savannah in East Africa - open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamp, and grassy low mountains - and is home to one of Africa’s highest hippo densities, large crocodiles as well as the rare Sitatunga and more than 520 bird species. Teeming with plains game, Akagera also boasts a healthy population of lion and black rhino.
Guests will be able to view a range of wildlife on expertly-guided game drive, including buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant, hippo, giraffe, spotted hyena, zebra, topi, eland, zebra, impala, warthogs, and hundred bird species such as the rare and elusive stork shoebill with its implausibly massive bill and near -endemic red-faced barbet.
