Highlights
  • Delta King Hotel - The Delta King is the first stop on our itinerary. She is a riverboat that has been transformed into a restaurant and hotel. Her interesting past comprises multiple moves and bankruptcy. The Delta King has reportedly been visited by three different ghosts.
  • California State Railroad Museum - Our next stop is the California State Railroad Museum. The museum was built by railroad enthusiasts in 1937. The museum contains 21 complete railroad cars, linked to exploitation and death, with the ghosts said to be appeased by something called the Hungry Ghost Festival.
  • Sacramento History Museum - We’re actually going to this museum next! The only museum devoted to Sacramento history is the Sacramento History Museum, which debuted in 1985. It is a rather straightforward museum that mostly focuses on the development and gold rush of Sacramento. The museum houses the belongings of May, a young girl who unfortunately perished from encephalitis.
  • The Eagle Theatre - One of the oldest theatres in California, this location is said to be haunted by one of its former directors.
  • Sam Brannan House - Once the town’s post office, the man for whom this location is named lived an interesting and tragic life.
  • River City Saloon - This building once served as the city’s hospital, and many of its tragedies are linked to the cholera epidemic that claimed countless lives in the 19th century.

Get insights into the catastrophes that occurred in this area during the early stage of railway transport. Kyndl killed it! - Kyndl gave a great tour! She was personable, funny, and also did a great job “setting the scene” for each story. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something interesting to do in Old Town Sacramento!

Interesting Tour of Old Sacramento and the ghosts that live there - Lydia, our guide, was great. Friendly, knowledgeable and nice. She knew a lot about the history of Sacramento and many things that had happened here. There’s a lot of old, cool structures near the river.

Great tour, poor directions - Excellent tour and tour guide, unfortunately we missed the first few stops because the address on the website took us to the wrong spot. We ended up in the middle of nowhere trying to figure out where we were supposed to be. Luckily the tour guide gave us some other locations and we were able to find our way with that.

Make it better - Nothing memorable. The host was great but overall it’s just a history lesson you can google. It would be better if we could actually go into the buildings and the delta king.

Don't Waste Your Money on This One - Terrible experience. Our guide, Emma. She showed up in her pajama bottoms and a tshirt, she was not in uniform and did not have a lantern. She stated her shirt had not come in and she forgot her lantern...ok no worries but pajama bottoms? She then proceeded with introductions and stated her name was Emma and then gave us her pronouns of she/her. ok...don't see the reason for that other than self promotion but it just seemed unprofessional as it has nothing to do with your job. Then she proceeds to tell us not to approach her too closely on her right while on our walking tour in which she is our guide as it sets off her Tourettes and her instant reaction is to basically elbow you in the face and then she demonstrates the motion with her arm. A couple standing next to us turned to me and said "did she actually just say she was going to elbow us in the face?" She constantly stopped to complain about the loud cars and music that were cruising Old Sac and at one point stopped and started flicking her neck saying "ugh I wish i could stop coughing so I could talk." The whole experience was odd, boring and not worth what we paid. We didn't really get the fact that we would be following someone around who was just going to talk.
