Tunis - Kairouan- Tozeur
Medina of Kairouan - Founded in 670, Kairouan thrived under the Aghlabid dynasty in the 9th century. Even after the political capital moved to Tunis in the 12th century, Kairouan remained the main holy city of the Maghreb. Its rich architectural heritage, including the Great Mosque with its marble and porphyry columns and the 9th-century Mosque of the Three Gates, has earned it a place on the UNESCO World Heritage list. We will spend 2 hours exploring Kairouan’s old Medina, admiring the Great Mosque, Zawiya of Sidi Sahâb, and the Three-Door Mosque. The tour will conclude with a traditional Tunisian lunch at the recommended El Brija Tourist Restaurant.
The Great Mosque of Kairouan - This is the oldest Islamic religious building in the Muslim West. Established in 670 during the first campaign to annex Ifriqiya to the emerging Muslim Empire, General Okba Ibn Nafaa chose a site at the edge of the northern mountainous foothills to set up a cantonment - al qayrawân - for his troops after a victorious offensive. He quickly built a government seat and an oratory in mud bricks, which, after several modifications, became the Great Mosque we see today. The mosque is a unique blend of architectural styles, using materials from ancient sites predating the Islamic conquest and reflecting distant oriental influences, especially in the minaret. The interior is lavishly decorated with intricate geometric and floral patterns carved in fine marble and precious woods, particularly around the mihrâb and the minbar.
Eden Palm - Eden Palm offers visitors to the Tozeur region a unique experience: an authentic and insightful discovery of the world of the date palm and its fruit, the date, which are emblematic of Tunisia. The visit includes a permanent exhibition, a tour of the palm grove, and tastings of gastronomic products made from dates or palm trees.

Chebika - Located near Tamerza in southwest Tunisia’s Djerid region, Chebika is a small mountain oasis town surrounded by arid desert, just north of the salt lakes or Chotts. Known as Qasr el-Shams or Castle of the Sun, it was once a Roman outpost called ‘Ad Speculum’ and a mountain refuge for the Berber people. Despite its remote location, Chebika attracts many tourists with its dramatic rock formations, waterfalls, and narrow gorge. A footpath leads to a stunning pool of azure water with a waterfall cascading into a small stream, creating a natural mountain oasis.
Decor Star Wars Tunisie - Jeep ride through dunes to the Star Wars decor studio and Ong Jmel stone.
Chott El Jerid - Chott El Jerid is a vast lake during the wet season, known for its exceptional natural beauty. The site is significant for its geological features and prehistoric sites in the surrounding regions. It was a permanent lake 100,000 years ago, with water up to 25 meters deep in some areas. Fossilized shells and a rich ecological environment, including Mediterranean waterbirds, have earned it classification as an Important Bird Area.
Sahara Desert - A camel ride in Douz is a popular activity, allowing visitors to traverse the sand dunes and admire the desert sunset. Camels, known for their intelligence, patience, and unique personalities, provide a memorable experience as you ride with nomads and experience the desert lifestyle. This unforgettable ride is suitable for both adults and children, offering a true Saharan adventure.

Casas Trogloditas de Matmata - Underground Berber troglodyte houses in Matmata.
Amphitheatre of El Jem - The amphitheater of El Jem is a remarkable example of Roman architecture in Africa, built entirely of cut stone without being dug into or supported by a hill. It follows the model of the Colosseum in Rome but is not an exact copy.
Archaeological Museum of El-Djem - Located near the first amphitheater of ancient Thysdrus, the museum is the largest and best-preserved in Africa, classified as a World Heritage Site. Built on the site of a Roman villa, it features a central courtyard surrounded by a peristyle leading to various rooms. The museum exhibits sculptures, giant mosaic paintings, and other artifacts from excavation campaigns in Thysdrus and its surroundings.
