Embrace the Dawn: Hiking Mount Sinai
As the Spring Equinox approaches, there’s no better way to celebrate the balance of day and night than by embarking on a thrilling adventure to Mount Sinai. This iconic peak, standing tall at 2,285 meters, offers an exhilarating night hike that promises a sunrise view like no other. Starting your journey from Sharm El Sheikh, you’ll be whisked away on a three-hour drive to the base of the mountain. As the clock strikes 2:00 AM, the ascent begins, guided by experienced Bedouin guides who know every twist and turn of the trail.
The climb is not for the faint-hearted, but the reward is worth every step. As you reach the summit, the first light of day breaks over the horizon, illuminating the chapel and mosque at the peak. The view is nothing short of breathtaking, a moment of pure magic that captures the essence of the equinox. After soaking in the sunrise, the descent leads you to the ancient St. Catherine’s Monastery, where history and spirituality intertwine. This 6th-century marvel is believed to be the site where Moses encountered the Burning Bush, adding a layer of mystique to your adventure. Mount Sinai Adventure
“Sunrise at Mount Sinai - an awesome experience. Great experience seeing the sun rise at the summit. If you’re planning to do this, keep in mind it is a mountain, and although the trail is straightforward, you’ll have to ascend 2000ft at night so careful consideration of footwear and clothing. Whilst you’re walking, you’ll be warm but as soon as you stop for a while (especially at the top) it will be cold so take warm clothing. You can hire blankets for 150 Egyptian pounds at the top. Our tour guides were friendly, helpful and experienced. Highly recommended!” - Reviewed on 2025-01-15
