Saint-Malo - Embark on this tour to discover the enchanting island of Le Mont-Saint-Michel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, along with the charming city of Saint Malo. The island has been fortified since ancient times and has housed a monastery since the 8th century AD. From the fifth to the eighth century, Mont Saint-Michel was part of Neustria. According to legend, in 708, the archangel Michael appeared to Aubert of Avranches, the bishop of Avranches, instructing him to construct a church on the rocky island.
Saint Malo was established by the Gauls in the 1st century B.C. and is named after Saint Malo or Maclou, believed to be a follower of Brendan the Navigator and an immigrant from present-day Wales.
