Great day out - We did both the train and the great house, the staff were friendly and informative The commentary on the train tour was great and even though this is a replica track the staff told us all about the history of train travel in Barbados. Thr great house rum distillate and tasting was great too. All followed by a lovely lunch on the terrace

I 100% recommend that you visit and see for yourself. Please don’t be put off by the price, I can assure you it was worth every penny!

A great relaxing and interesting visit - Good combination of historical information, a train ride and, of course, rum tasting. I ended up buying a bottle of the 12 year old - it is truly better than the smoothest cognac I have ever had! A privilege to meet owner family members and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Will be back next year to have a trip on the extended railway!

Train ride and house tour - I did both the house tour and the train ride. The train ride was nice sight seeing tour and takes you up to cherry tree hill for a short stop to enjoy the view, or buy some souvenirs. And some people get asked to rotate the locomotive on the turntable. The house and distillery tour were also quite interesting. The current owner was also working in the distillery. Afterwards had a taste of some of there rums.

GGood chance to see some of the island and some rum tasting! - This was a great wee trip which also lets you see a bit of the Island. We were picked up in a lovelu air-conditined mini-bus and there werecbottles of water available in a cooler. Our driver/guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We visited Hunte's Gardens first. These are really beutiful gardens with the tallest palm trees I have ever seen! You walk down several levels and there are lots of wee seating areas you can sit at. Very tropical place! We then stopped for a nice lunch at Bathseba. Different landscape here due to being on Atlantic side Staff here were lovely and some stalls with local goods for sale. Then off to St Nicholas Abbey. There isca steam train journey you can do here but it was not on due to it being fixed but we knew about this beforehand. Wee rum tasting first. You can purchase rum there which is in beautifully decorated glass bottle. You can get your name or messages engravedcon the bottle which would make a lovely gift. A tour of the house - downstairs only as the house is so old the upstairs is becoming hazardous to walk on. Tour of the distillery and then tour of where they bottle up the rum. One of the owners was there that day and told us they had distilled gin during COVID and nowvsell gin! Beautiful grounds round the house. Well worth a visit if you are interested in rum and history! Thanks to the driver/guide on the day (Mark) and his buddy. Looked after us very well!

A bit of Barbados history - We did ride the Cherry Hill railway and the staff was great. It poured rain as we entered the house so we were rather crammed in waiting for the rain to stop. The best part was the film narrated by one of the previous owners. Very informative. It was Sunday so no distillery tour but we did have a tasting. All in all we enjoyed it.

Nice place - Lovely grounds and very pleasant staff. Great place to visit and the rum tasting is excellent. You can even have your name engraved in a bottle. Easy walk and interesting little family movie clip.

A lovely photo of the front of the house but no substance after that! - The house is very pretty and in terms of a nice afternoon out this makes for a nice venue. But day trips do not come cheap in Barbados and thus this destination isn't worth it. I went as a historian, interested in learning facts and information about the house. The tour girl didn't honestly know much at all. The items in the house weren't historical. The chair so focused on was from the 1935. That apparently the slave owner would sit in. But it was far to modern for the time. You see you literally only walk through a living room and study. You see a stair case and a sliding toilet by Sir Thomas Crapper. Well that's late 1800's. The whole tour is trying to make more of what's there than actually is. It's a hodge podge of random items that are not what I would consider historically from the time of the house. There were some random British police hats from 3 constabularies and I asked what the relevance of them was. The tour girl knew nothing about them. To be honest she knew very little and could answer no questions. I learnt much much more on their own website and the internet. Also what's with the painting of Benedict Cumbernbatches 3x Great Grandfather? It's a name drop but it's misleading. He's not even the Cumberbatch linked with the house!! But he looks like Benedict so it's a good taking point! The video at the end kinda gives some meaning and has more purpose. The rum distillery tour that I was sold, isn't! It's a small taste in the restaurant area and a view of the distillery. Not a tour. I wanted facts and information. More focus should be on what happened to the plantation workers to pay homage to them, to right down wrongs! Not about a few stuff birds and shells in a box. Overall an expensive disappointment.
