Soufrière, also known as “La Vieille Dame,” is actually a relatively young volcano situated in the French West Indies, specifically in Guadeloupe. It boasts the highest peak in the Lesser Antilles, reaching 1,467 meters. The town of Saint-Claude, the highest in the Lesser Antilles, offers the easiest access to the “Vieille Dame.” On the slopes of Soufrière, within the town’s grounds, you can find hot sulfur baths (Les Bains Jaunes) where you can bathe and relax, though you must avoid submerging your head to prevent exposure to amoebae. The main focus here is Soufrière, viewed almost “at 360°.” During this “Shooting tour,” we will make several stops, allowing you to relax and take photos of the Soufrière massif, spanning from the oldest part in the commune of Sainte-Rose to the southern tip of Basse-Terre Island, passing through the slopes of Soufrière and the town of Saint-Claude.
