Highlights

Parking du Pas de Bellecombe - Let’s share the geological history of the island in the mineral universe of one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
The hike begins with a descent into the “enclosure” then we will walk through the lava flows to reach the base of the main cone and start the ascent to the summit crater.
In the event of an eruption in the enclosure, it is closed by prefectural order. Our specialists will then offer you a route off the beaten track in the Plaine des Sables to catch a glimpse of the current eruption or to discover past eruptions and the history of the volcano.
Children: We evolve throughout the course at more than 2000 m altitude, so it can be very cold at the volcano and the weather conditions can change very quickly (rain, fog, wind…). Finally, the terrain is very steep and the lava very sharp in the event of a fall.
Recommended minimum age: 12 years old. For any child under 12, please contact us for more information. We cannot accept minors under the age of 18 unaccompanied by an adult.
A good understanding of French is necessary to participate in this activity.

Discover this bustling volcano under the tutelage of a certified mountain guide from the Bureau Montagne Réunion.
Gain entry to off-route sections, exclusive to professionals.
Assured departures every Wednesday and Sunday, starting with the inaugural registered participant.
Limited group size to a dozen individuals at most.
In case the enclosure is banned due to a prefectural order, we will propose an alternate plan to view the eruption or explore the plain of Sables.
Cover a distance of 9 km, with an ascension of 500 m.

This hike is a must! - It was really an amazing experience to be able to hike on this volcano! We started in the morning in the fog and drizzle giving the landscape a ghostly look, then the weather gradually improved as we discovered the wonderful landscape that surrounded us with beautiful rainbows finally we had the chance to see the main crater in its entirety during a beautiful thinning. Another big thank you to our escort Guillaume for his professionalism, knowledge and kindness.
