- Rabil - Then, drive south until you reach a dry river. Arrive at the beautiful Oasis de Fonte Vicente and observe the leafy fruit trees including giant fig trees, robust almond trees, tamarinds, and an exotic baobab tree.
- Fundo das Figueiras - Next, explore the old village of Coral Velho before you arrive at Fundo das Figueiras where you will stop for a delicious lunch.
- Boa Vista - After that, cross Cabeça de Tarrafas and Santinha.
- Deserto de Viana - Reach the stunning sand dunes of the Viana desert and learn how the dunes were formed as you admire the incredible landscape.
- Rabil - Drive along the edge of the desert on the way back to Rabil. Conclude your adventure with drop-off at your accommodation

Great day out!! - We booked this not knowing what to expect as there we no reviews.
We arrived and were greeted by the tour guide Hamilton, what a great guy. We were out all day just with him on a tour of the whole island. We stopped about every 40 mins and then at 1pm in 'Fundo de Figueiras' for lunch at a great little restaurant (included in the price).
The trip was across all sorts of terrains, sand, gravel, stones, volcanic rock, cobbled roads and partly on the main roads. 4 wheel drive across the sand dunes was just fantastic.
Absolutely great fun, highly recommend, Hamilton is really knowledgeable and spoke excellent English, he also speaks the local language and others.
All in all, a great day out and really good value for money. So much so that we booked a 4hr quad for the next morning that covered the south west corner of the island that we didn't explore on this day out.
