Highlights
  • Ain Razat - Start your day in the eastern part of Dhofar at Ain Razat, a series of natural springs, some of which flow year-round while others appear only during the Khareef (monsoon season). This spot is a popular destination throughout the year and is a key water source for Salalah.
  • Wadi Darbat - After a stop in Taqah, head to the most surprising spot in Dhofar, Wadi Darbat. Nestled in the mountains overlooking Khor Rori, just beyond the Taqah coast, this natural park offers stunning views of waterfalls, numerous camels, lakes, mountains, caves, and lush greenery. During the Khareef season, water from the mountains revitalizes the Wadi, creating spectacular waterfalls that cascade from 30 meters (100 ft.) and fill cave chambers. Visitors can also enjoy a spacious picnic area.
  • Taqah - Next, we will visit Taqah, a coastal town in the Dhofar Governorate. Taqah is an ancient fishing village with a fascinating castle. The castle is surrounded by watchtowers and stone houses, and its rooms are filled with antique jewelry, weapons, furniture, paintings, and everyday items that make it livable.
  • Sumhuram Old City - Proceed to Khor Rori Creek, the site of the ancient city of Sumhuram, once the capital of the Arabian frankincense trade. The Sumhuram Museum / Archaeological Park is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Land of Frankincense. Located in Khor Rori, this ancient city was a hub for the frankincense and copper trade.
