- The Custom House - This is the last of the four custom houses serving one of the most important ports in the world and bringing in a high percentage of the revenue of the entire US budget. Built in 1819. The author Nathaniel Hawthorne worked there while he was writing the Scarlet Letter.
- The Derby House - The home of the richest man in America, Elias Hasket Derby. Built in 1762 at the same time as Derby Wharf.
- Derby Wharf Light Station - Built in 1762 and extending a half mile into Salem Harbor, this wharf loaded and unloaded ships engaged in the profitable China Trade for the House of Derby.
- Pickering Wharf - This is a commercial/residential wharf that has two of the best restaurants in the area. It also has several witch shops and other unique Salem-themed shops.
- Salem Witch Trials Memorial - Dedicated to the 20 innocent accused witches who were executed in 1692.
- Old Burying Point Cemetery - The second oldest cemetery in English-settled America. Here lie many of the founding figures of Salem, old Puritans and sea captains, two judges of the Witch Trials, and Samuel McIntire.
- Peabody Essex Museum - Particularly, the East India Marine Hall. Built in 1825, dedicated by the President of the United States, and used to exhibit strange curiosities brought back by sailors from the other side of the world. The original building of the PEM

A two-hour history and architecture tour given by a former guide on the Salem Trolley. The route is less than 1.5 miles. We will see the House of the Seven Gables and other first-period homes, the Custom House, Derby Wharf, Salem Witch Trials Memorial, the Old Burying Point, Gardner-Pingree murder mansion, one Hocus Pocus filming location, and great restaurants. The Witch Trials are mentioned, but they are not the focus. We focus on ships, sailors, captains, adventure, profits, and pirates. The tour is not scripted, and hard questions are welcomed.
