Super fun, super interesting exhibit and walking tour with a guide who really knows her stuff! - We loved this spectacular exhibit and walking tour! The exhibit experience was very well crafted — just perfect! Great and engaging information about real pirate history, verified and authenticated with real artifacts! I loved learning about the discovery of the shipwreck and seeing the electrolysis process happening in real time with recently discovered guns, dishes, coins, and other relics. I was especially impressed with the multimillion dollar display of actual Spanish silver and the chance to physically touch a pirate-minted coin! Our tour guide (Stephanie) was very friendly and super knowledgeable. She was happy to answer all of our questions and tailor the experience just for us. She expertly weaved together not only pirate and maritime history, but also Salem history, U.S. history and literature. Her passion for history and storytelling is as contagious as it was impressive! We spent about an hour in the museum and another 45 minutes on the tour — and then we went back to the museum and gift shop for more! Everyone was friendly and helpful and excited to share their love of authentic pirate history. If you want to learn about real pirate history in an entertaining, engaging, and inspiring way, don't miss the full exhibit and walking tour!

Would recommend this tour - Our tour guide was very informative and seemed to love her job but not particularly passionate in her tellings and slightly hard to hear, especially on the walking portion but that may have been because she appeared to have a cold. It was also a little disappointing she openly skipped some of the details because children were present (it was our children and they weren't walking with the group or paying attention so the rest of the group felt a little jipped). the museum and the stops on the walking tour were very cool to see. I would still recommend this tour.

Very interesting for adults and children alike! - My family and I visited Real Pirates Salem on October 16, 2023. I really liked the true history of the pirates that was given at the beginning of the tour. There were a lot of genuine artifacts, including a chest full of gold and silver. Genuine coins, and also genuine coins that you could actually touch. Even though there were a lot of historical facts, and very fascinating things that I didn’t know about pirates, my grandson was very interested in the way pirates would greet each other. They did not shake hands, but instead looped their index fingers together like a hook. For days and weeks after the tour, my five-year-old grandson was still wanting to greet me in the pirate way! Thank you for all of the information that was not generally known to me, about pirate life. The museum was very interesting for adults and kids alike.
