Highlights
  • Salem Old Town Hall - A historic building in its own right, and a filming location for the classic Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus. A fitting location to start the tour.

Note: We’ll stop at this location, but we won’t go inside.

  • John Ward House - Historic location. 330 years ago, this was where the house of Sheriff Corwin, the High Sheriff of Essex County, stood. During the trials, he acted as the warrant issuer, interrogator, and torturer, among other roles.

Note: We’ll stop at this location, but we won’t go inside.

  • Rockafellas Restaurant - Historic location. This was the site of the First Church of Salem and the city meeting house in 1692.

Note: We’ll stop at this location, but we won’t go inside.

  • 93 Washington St - Long since torn down, the road adjacent to this location is where the Salem Courthouse once stood, where the trials themselves took place.

Note: We’ll stop at this location, but we won’t go inside.

  • Turner’s Seafood at Lyceum Hall - Salem - Historic location. The Old Lyceum Hall, now Turner’s Seafood restaurant, is on land once owned by Bridget Bishop, the first person executed during the Salem Witchcraft trials.

Note: We’ll stop at this attraction, no admission included.

  • 10 Federal St - Historic location. Near the site of the Old Salem Jail, this is where the accused spent months awaiting trials in radically inhumane conditions.

Note: We’ll stop at this location, but we won’t go inside.

  • Salem Witch Trials Memorial - Historic location. Those who were executed in 1692 were not given any formal burial. This memorial, dedicated in 1993, is what we have today to pay our respects to those who lost their lives in the Salem Witchcraft Trials.

Note: We’ll stop at this location, but we won’t go inside.

Fun historic tour - Went on this tour yesterday. It was exactly what I was looking for, a historic yet fun tour covering the entire event. Lots of fun little anecdotes as well. What I liked best was the attempt to give context to the trials, what was going on around them, what where the living conditions etc. It provided a respectful approach to this tragic event.

Jeffery passionately and compassionately gives a moving history of the Salem Witch Trials. Highly recommend. - I highly recommend this walking tour of Salem. Jeffery is a wonderful storyteller and passionate about sharing this time in history in an interesting and relatable way. I have been to Salem before and read books on the trials, but Jeffery shared several facts I hadn’t heard before. This was a wonderful experience, well worth the time and money.

A highly informative and enjoyable tour in Salem - My husband and I did this tour on a Sunday afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot about the Salem witch trials. Jeffrey had an excellent way of explaining the facts and telling us the stories about the events and why it all happened the way it did. I found some of what he shared and the way in which he shared it very moving. The time went in really quickly and we moved around at a sensible pace. It was also very easy to find the starting point of the tour! Would thoroughly recommend this tour.

The best way to experience Salem for the first time! - Fantastic tour. I didn’t start the tour completely uneducated, but the fun facts and deep dives were absolutely amazing. I’ve done like this all over the world and this was one of the best guides!

Recommend this for out of town visitors - My daughter and I did this last week, as she was visiting from out of town. It was great and historically accurate. The storytelling was done well, although I didn’t appreciate there was a lot of profanity used during the tour, even with kids present. We were taken to a number of places that “this is where the building used to be”. There were only two places that actually had things to see. The balance of walking and standing was fine. It wasn’t overly exertive walking. Jeff shared a lot of historical facts and had done his research. Overall, it was well done.

Historically accurate - The tour was good and informative. It was historically accurate and done in an engaging way. I wish we could have seen more buildings, as many of the stops were “the building used to be here”. The stops were done in a way to not stop traffic or other pedestrians. There was quite a bit of profanity used in the tour which was slightly disappointing considering there were kids on the tour. The ticketing process was easy and straightforward with good information.
