Humantay Lake - We will pick you up from the hotel at 04:00 am. to start our expedition to Machu Picchu. After a 2-hour trip we will arrive to Mollepata for breakfast, then will continue our trip for one more hour until the trail head. Once there, you will see two great mountains, called Humantay and Salkantay. We will start walking towards Humantay lagoon located just 1 hour from the starting point. After 3 and a half hours hiking we will arrive to our Lunch spot. After lunch, we will continue our expedition towards the campisite, this will take about 2 hours, we will be on time to enjoy the sunset over this magical location, and see the condors flying overhead if we are lucky. Our trekking team will have your tents and with your duffle bags ready in. We will have a happy hour with hot chocolate, coffee and popcorn, followed by dinner. If weather allows, you can enjoy the blue sky, and your guide will show you the Inca constellations
Soyro Ccocha – Thermal Baths – Lucma Bamba (camp site)
Salkantay Trail - Your hiking crew will wake us up early with a hot drink, we hope that when you open your tent you will be able to appreciate the first sun beans over the peaks of the mountains. Around 06:30 am, we will start the hike that will be 50 minutes uphill until we reach the Salkantay pass the highest point, we will be the first ones at the top. From this point, our hike will be all downhill of 2 and a half hours until we get to our lunch spot. In this place we will say goodbye to part of our trekking team (Horsemen).
Finally, we can get ready with our bathing clothes that we will take with us in the small backpacks.
After 4 hour walk we will get to Challway town, where our van will be waiting for us to go to the hot springs in Santa Teresa. Around 07:30 pm, we will take our van back to the campssite for about 40 minutes, after that we will walk 10 minutes until our campsite.(it is recommended to bring head lamps for this day). There, our cook will be waiting for us with an exquisite dinner.
Lucma Bamba – Coffee Activity – Chilca viewpoint – Llactapata.
Mirador de Llactapata - After a delicious breakfast, we will start the shortest, but interesting day. Before starting our ascent to the 2nd pass of Llactapata, we will experience the local coffee harvesting activity. Here, locals grow large hectares of coffee to export to the United States, Asia and Europe.
After the activity, you will have the opportunity to climb part of the Inca Trail for two hours and a half until we reach the top of the mountain from where you will see amazing views of the Santa Teresa Valley and just in front of us the world wonder of Machu Picchu.
It will be 30 minutes more downhill, to the camping area. This camping is owned by a local family. This is a great place to enjoy the sunset and sunrise over Machu Picchu the next morning.
Once the stars come out, you can enjoy the Milky Way and the Inca constellations (weather permitting). This is where the Inca astronomers studied the sky to predict the weather.
Llactapata – Hidroeléctrica – Machu Picchu Town.
Aguas Calientes - There will be an early awakening, with a hot cup of coca tea. Prepare yourself for today’s activities and enjoy your last breakfast prepared by our chef. We will do a farewell ceremony because this will be the last time that we will see all our crew together, if you have some appreciation this must be done in this moment. After we say good bye to our team, we will start the 2 hours downhill walk with amazing views to Machu Picchu, until we reach the hydroelectric station, from this point the road is flat along the railroad and it will be another 2 hours until Mandor Pampa, place we will have our lunch on the sides of Urubamba River.
