The current basilica, dating back to the 18th century, was built by Fray Vicente Muñoz and later enhanced by architect Luis Giorgi. Its Italianate style and terracotta, ivory, and white colors make it an architectural gem.
• Monumento al Gral. Martin Miguel de Guemes - Situated at the end of Paseo Güemes and at the base of San Bernardo Hill, this monument honors gaucho hero Martín Miguel de Güemes. Inaugurated in 1931, it was constructed using rocks from San Bernardo Hill. Every June 17, the city celebrates with parades and the “Guard under the stars,” where gauchos gather for traditional bonfires and music.
• Cerro San Bernardo - This municipal nature reserve stands 1,454 meters above sea level and is a biodiversity hotspot. Its native trees and rich birdlife make it ideal for bird watching along the 1070 steps to the summit. IMPORTANT: We ascend by vehicle (combi or minibus), not by cable car!
