Arrival in Salta

Salta - Welcome to the northern region of Argentina! Upon arrival at Salta Airport (SLA), a transfer will take us to our hotel. The remainder of the day is free to explore the city independently. A visit to the San Bernardo Cableway is recommended for breathtaking views of the entire city.

Salta to Cafayate with Wine Tasting

Cafayate - Today’s tour begins in the Lerma Valley, passing through tobacco fields and towns with colonial architecture. We then enter the Quebrada del Río Las Conchas, where wind and water have sculpted fascinating formations: the dunes, the toad, the bishop, the devil’s throat, the castles, and the amphitheater, among others. We arrive in Cafayate, a city internationally renowned for its wine varieties, especially Torrontés, which can be sampled during visits to local wineries. We will then proceed to our hotel in Cafayate for an overnight stay.

Cafayate to Salta

Salta - After breakfast, the morning is free to explore Cafayate at leisure. At the designated time, we will begin our journey back to Salta city.

Salinas Grandes Salt Flat to Purmamarca

Salinas Grandes - After an early breakfast, we embark on a day of travel through stunning landscapes. We follow a route parallel to the Train of the Clouds railway through Quebrada del Toro. The journey continues with an ascent to 4080 meters above sea level, reaching San Antonio de los Cobres. Here, we pause for lunch and enjoy some traditional local dishes. Back on the road, we travel along route 40 to Salinas Grandes, located on the border between Salta and Jujuy. We then descend via Cuesta de Lipán, where condors are often spotted. We arrive in Purmamarca, home to the Hill of Seven Colors, where we will spend the night.

Quebrada de Humahuaca to Salta

Quebrada de Humahuaca - Early in the morning, we visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, Quebrada de Humahuaca. We explore Purmamarca and its vibrant “Seven Colors Hill” before entering the Quebrada de Humahuaca, passing through Posta de Hornillos and continuing to the town of Tilcara. Our journey takes us to Huacalera, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn, where the “Pollera de la Colla” hill’s colors can be seen. We visit the mystical Church of Uquía, home to the Arcabuceros Angels paintings, a significant remnant of the Cuzqueña school. We then arrive in Humahuaca to admire its impressive Cathedral and the Independence Monument (El Indio) by sculptor Soto Avendaño. After lunch, we return to view the “Paleta del Pintor” mountain range framing the town of Maimara from the road. By late afternoon, we arrive back in Salta, marking the end of our services.
