Bahia Top Tourism_Unforgettable family trip - Me, my mother and my two children did several trips with the Bahia Top Tourism: Full-day city tour, tour of the islands including the Isle of Frades, tour to Praia do Forte and Guarajuba with Project Tamar and the concert of the Folkloric Ballet in Pelourinho. During all these tours, Elielson, our Guide, accompanied us telling the stories of the places, curiosities and their peculiarities. Very attentive, polite, fun and punctual, he made our trip much more interesting! That, not to mention the special care of my mother who is an old person and who was constantly supported by him. As she herself said: "Now he's specializing in old people." I would like to keep all our thanks recorded to Bahia Top Turismo, especially to Elielson, the drivers who received us and took us back to the airport (Samuel and Jailson) and the boatman Rafael (another great person!) who accompanied us on the tour to the islands. Thank you for everything and to the next!!!!!!

Good trip...once you get going... - The trip itself was good, and Rodriguez is an energetic guide, who clearly enjoys his job. Thank you... The organization of the trip, could be improved. The pick up time, at my hotel was identified as 07:00. Since I always endeavour to be on time, I was out front at 06:55. As I waited outside and saw 2 tour vans go by, I thought this is the one...no such luck, then 2 school buses go by. At 07:25 I text to ask what the delay is and I was informed that I needed to walk down to the main street and along to a bus stop, as the road I am on is too small. Clearly it is not given the traffic I saw go by. This 10 minute walk, wasn't such a big deal because I am fit - were I not it could have been an issue - I also didn't argue as my street is a one way and it would have added time to the route. I was finally picked up at 07:45 and we then we spent the next 45 ish minutes driving to the other hotels to collect the other participants. Forte Beach was timed well for me as I only wanted to do the Tamar Project and not the snorkeling or dune buggy and so I shopped. Lunch at Guarajuba Beach was excellent and the beach beautiful with plenty of time to enjoy both! The return trip also took a long time because of the additional time driving to everyone's hotels to drop them off. This added an hour, since I was 2nd last. Further, the same excuse about the road being to narrow was given and I was dropped off at the corner and had to walk up and since I spent most of the day sitting I didn't argue...Please do not tell me to be ready at 07:00 and make me wait. ~Addendum a huge dump truck went by this morning and actually backed into a construction site with no issues.

TAMAR is a wonderful project, the tour was so-so... - First (unfortunately), the logistics. We were supposed to be picked up at the hotel at 8 a.m, but a minibus only arrived at 8:45 - after the hotel reception made inquiries on our behalf. We joined the main tour bus about 20 minutes later at a random point on the main highway north. I assume they forgot to pick us up... The tour duration is listed as 8 hours, so we expected to be back at the hotel by about 4 p.m - but were dropped off at about 6:30 p.m. Luckily, we had no specific plans for the evening. TAMAR project is wonderful, the project visitor center is similar to a small marine zoo. OK, but not a must-see. The village resort is quite beautiful, but expect many tourist shops. The public beach at the resort is small and not really inviting. None of our group bathed there. Guarajuba beach, where we spent over 2 hours, is beautiful, but don't expect pristine white sand and clear water. The sand is a typical 'sand' color (i.e. light brown), and the water somewhat silty. For those interested in swimming, there was a strong rip current. Our tour guide was very friendly, and although we were the only English speakers on the bus (others spoke Portuguese, mostly, or Spanish) devoted sufficient time to us. Overall, though, it appears that the tour is seen primarily as a day at the beach with a little souvenir hunting, not a didactic trip.
