• Stift Nonnberg - The oldest abbey north of the Alps (established in 714 AD) appeared several times in “The Sound of Music.” Only the exterior was used in the film, with interior shots done in a studio.
• Leopoldskroner Weiher - Pause here for a view across the lake to the Leopoldskron Palace. This exquisite rococo building served as the rear of the family home in “The Sound of Music.” The boat scene was filmed here, and it was once home to the original Gazebo.
• Schloss Frohnburg - Stop for a brief walk to the 17th-century Frohnburg Palace. These are the gates where Maria arrived, joyfully swinging her guitar and singing “I Have Confidence” in “The Sound of Music.”
• Schloss Hellbrunn - Hellbrunn Palace, renowned for its trick water fountains, has housed the original Gazebo since 1991. Some of the most memorable and romantic scenes from “The Sound of Music,” such as “16 Going on 17” with Liesl and Rolf and “Something Good,” were performed in this timeless Gazebo.
