• MoenchsbergAufzug - Enjoy panoramic views over Salzburg, just as Maria and the children did while singing Do, Re, Mi from the picnic meadow in Werfen. This is the moment in the film when they start mixing up the musical notes for practice.

• Pferdeschwemme (Horse Well) - This iconic 17th-century fountain, originally used for washing horses, was also featured in The Sound of Music.

• Felsenreitschule - Originally built in the 17th century as a riding school for the prince archbishops of Salzburg, it was converted into a theater in 1925. This is where the Von Trapps performed Edelweiss and won the Salzburg festival during their escape scene in The Sound of Music.

• Petersfriedhof - St. Peter’s Cemetery, located next to St. Peter’s Basilica and Monastery, is the oldest part of Salzburg, dating back to 696 AD. It inspired the escape scene in The Sound of Music.

• Mozart Bridge - Built in 1903, the Mozart Bridge is the oldest bridge over the river Salzach in Salzburg. Maria and the children cross this bridge during the instrumental end of “My Favorite Things” before skipping along the grassy riverbank.

• Residenzplatz Market - Stop at this majestic 17th-century baroque fountain, where Maria splashed water before boarding the bus to the captain’s villa during “I Have Confidence” in The Sound of Music.

• Stift Nonnberg - The oldest abbey north of the Alps, dating back to 714 AD, was featured several times in The Sound of Music. Only the exterior was used in the film; interior shots were done in a studio.

• Leopoldskroner Weiher - Stop for a view over the lake to the Palace Leopoldskron, a beautiful rococo building used as the back of the family house in The Sound of Music. The boat scene was filmed here, and it was the original home of the gazebo.

• Schloss Frohnburg - Take a short walk to the 17th-century Palace Frohnburg, where Maria arrived, hopping and swinging her guitar while singing “I Have Confidence” in The Sound of Music.

• Rossfeld Panoramastrasse - This panoramic road is one of the most beautiful in the Alps. After a scenic drive to the top (1570 meters), your private guide will walk with you to the spot where the family hiked over the Alps to Switzerland, weather permitting.

• Berchtesgaden - Enjoy spectacular views, weather permitting, at the location where Maria spun in the field during the opening scene of The Sound of Music while singing “The Hills Are Alive With The Sound Of Music”.

• Schloss Hellbrunn - Famous for its trick water fountains, Hellbrunn Palace has been the location of the original gazebo since 1991. Some of the most unforgettable and romantic scenes of The Sound of Music, like “16 Going on 17” with Liesl and Rolf and “Something Good,” were performed in this timeless gazebo.

• The Sound of Music Trail - Visit the Sound of Music picnic meadow, where Maria and the children started singing Do, Re, Mi during their picnic. Enjoy beautiful views of the fortress Hohenwerfen and the Alps.
