- Schloss Leopoldskron - Make a photo stop at Schloss Leopoldskron. Admire the picturesque view of the palace and the fortress from across the lake. While the interior scenes were filmed in studios, Hollywood used the elegant Rococo Palace terrace for the ball scene where Maria and the Baron danced. The lake is also famous for the boat scene where Maria and the children fell into the water.
- Hellbrunner Park - Stop by Hellbrunn Park to see the Original Gazebo, which captures the most romantic scene in The Sound of Music when Liesl receives her first kiss while singing “16 Going on 17.”
- Mondsee - In Mondsee, visit the stunning Basilica of St. Michael, where Maria and Georg von Trapp’s wedding was filmed—a must-see for any Sound of Music fan. Be sure to try some apple strudel before making your own while exploring this charming lakeside town during your 50 minutes of free time.
