Highlights
  • Panjakent - Meet your driver at the hotel for a transfer to the Uzbek-Tajik border. Upon arrival, you will need to walk across the border. After completing border formalities, you will be greeted by the Tajikistan staff and driven to Penjikent.

  • Seven Lakes - Drive to Marghuzor, the first lake, situated at an elevation of 1,640 meters. Its name translates to ‘eyelashes’ in Tajik and is known for its vibrant colors. Next, visit Soya Lake, which means ‘shadow’ due to its location between high cliffs, keeping it in the shade most of the day. The third lake, Gushor, is just 400 meters from Soya and is connected by a turbulent stream. Gushor translates to ‘watchful’ and is surrounded by steep cliffs. The fourth lake, Nofin, is the central lake and translates to ‘umbilical cord’ due to its 2.5 km length. The fifth lake, Khurdak, is 1.5 km from Nofin and is the smallest of the seven, translating to ‘the baby.’ The sixth lake, Marguzor, is the largest and considered by many to be the most beautiful of the Seven Lakes.

  • Seven Lakes - An optional hike from the sixth lake to Hazorchashma, the seventh and highest of the Seven Lakes, located at around 2,400 meters above sea level. Hazorchashma means ‘a thousand springs,’ as it is fed by two rivers and numerous streams and springs. It is the last lake in the Shing River gorge. The distance is 2.5 km one way with an elevation gain of 340 meters.

This one-day tour allowed you to experience the real-life "Silk Road" that was once broadcast on NHK. This is a tour that I would like you to take an extra day in Samarkand. Preferably on a sunny day. - The Directions of the tour, the course, were even nicer than I expected. The driver also spoke English and was kind. It was also good that he told me interesting stories, such as about a Japanese teacher living in Penzhkent. On the way, I also had good memories of buying watermelons by the side of the road and eating them with me and taking me to Top-rated restaurants that were delicious.

Smooth experience, great guide and beautiful landscapes and lakes! - Incredible excursion from Samarkand to the 7 lakes in Tajikistan. This was a very smooth experience. Oriz was very easy to communicate with ahead of the trip and provided all the details we needed in good time. He sent the details of the Uzbek taxi to take us to the border and the details of our Tajik guide who would meet us once we crossed the border. The border crossing was very easy (we packed light) and Afreesho, our guide, was at the Tajik border gate to meet us and take us on our excursion. The lakes were beautiful and surrouned by mountaints. The water was very blue and we were able to swim in lake 7 which was amazing and an experience we won't forget. Afreesho, was an excellent guide and very engaging. He was able to explain a bit about the history and current state of Tajikistan whilst driving very safely on challenging roads. Oriz also organised for us to stay in Artuch at a family guesthouse, which was a memorable experience nestled in the Tajik mountains. We then did a hike to Lake Chukurak which was stunning at 2400m. Afreesho dropped us back to the Uzbek border and the same taxi dropped us back to our hotel in Samarkand. Overall, a very smooth experience and beautiful landscape.

Fantastic tour to beautiful lakes - The tour was well organised. We had been picked up from our guest house and arrived to the Tadjikistan border. The border pass is time consuming. Allow at least 1.5 hours. Our guide Shakhzod met as immediately after passing the border. We travelled in a comfortable Honda CRV. Shakhzod was a wonderful person and told us a lot about the history of Tajikistan and all the points of interest on our way. On fourth lake we had a delicious lunch in a local village.

Best tour in Tajikistan - We decided to go day trip to seven lakes. Our tour guide Shamsiddin told us lots about Tajikistan and story of save lakes. He is also fun and reliable driver. Just breathtaking nature awaits. So if you see natural beauty while you’re in Central Asia, I highly recommend to take this tour. Definitely worth it.

Gorgeous mountain lakes - The lakes were spectacular. The pace was just right. The road isn’t wide and is pretty rocky. The car pick up went well, once I got to speak to the right person on WhatsApp. Guides on both sides of border were great. Coming back through Tajikistan border was unpleasant - takes a long time and lots of shoving.
