Embrace the rainy charm of San Antonio de Pichincha this pre-Christmas weekend with indoor adventures that celebrate the region’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Discover the Equatorial Monument and Quito’s hidden treasures, perfect for a cozy yet enlightening escape.

Embracing the Equator: A Journey to the Middle of the World

As the rain patters gently against the windows of San Antonio de Pichincha, the allure of indoor escapades becomes irresistible. This weekend, the weather may be damp, but the spirit of adventure is anything but. Begin your exploration with the Equatorial Monument Tour—a journey to the very line that divides our planet into two hemispheres. This iconic monument, standing tall at 30 meters, is not just a tribute to the French expedition but a gateway to a world of cultural and historical wonders.

The tour, available from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, offers a unique opportunity to defy the laws of physics and experience phenomena exclusive to this geographical marvel. As you wander through the compact museum, you’ll encounter a rich tapestry of Ecuadorian artifacts, each telling a story of the nation’s diverse heritage. The reviews speak for themselves:

“Great tour worth every cent - We were at the meeting point, Driver and guide showed up in time. Andrea, our guide for the day was amazing, what a lovely, polite girl. Her product knowledge was excellent. She was telling us stories, history and pointing out key places. She has been patient and professional. Very very impressed with this young girl. Best wishes Andrea.” (Reviewed on 2024-07-01)

With the rain providing a soothing backdrop, this tour is a perfect pre-Christmas escape, offering both education and enchantment.

Quito’s Hidden Treasures: A Day of Discovery

For those eager to delve deeper into the heart of Ecuador, the Quito Highlights Tour is a must. Available from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, this full-day adventure promises a comprehensive exploration of Quito’s most captivating sites. Begin your day at Plaza Foch, where your guide will whisk you away to the breathtaking heights of the TeleferiQo cable car. As you ascend, the sprawling cityscape unfolds beneath you, offering panoramic views that are nothing short of spectacular.

The journey continues to the Intiñan Museum, where you can straddle the equator and immerse yourself in the vibrant cultures of Ecuador’s indigenous peoples. The museum’s exhibits are a testament to the country’s rich history and the enduring spirit of its people. As the day progresses, you’ll wander through Quito’s old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where colonial architecture and historical landmarks await at every turn.

“Fabulous Day in Quito - Our day started by being met by our guide and driver, Michael. We were the only two on the tour. Michael started by taking us to the Middle of the World, an informative tour explaining the equator. Next we went to the cable car and Michael accompanied us explaining the history of the mountains and volcanoes. We enjoyed lunch in the old town followed by a guided walk of the old historic centre, viewing many churches and buildings of historical importance. At the end of the day, Michael delivered us back to our hotel. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Quito.” (Reviewed on 2023-10-30)

This tour is a celebration of Quito’s past and present, offering a glimpse into the soul of Ecuador.
