Following this, an expert tour guide will lead you to the Arenal River. Along the way, you’ll pass through a quaint town called “La Guaria,” which preserves the “fortuneños” culture. There, you might see a local church and a small school, and you’ll conclude the journey at the Arenal River, where you can swim and unwind if you choose.
On the return trip, there is a stop at a local house where you can savor delicious traditional snacks and enjoy the opportunity to interact with a local family, surrounded by farm animals.

The journey kicks off at the private farm, La Naciente, just a short distance from La Fortuna’s downtown area. The adventure begins with a trek on muddy paths through the primary rainforest. Participants receive a safety briefing and practice on a circuit to become familiar with the ATVs. The group then ventures onto the thrilling trails of La Naciente, navigating challenging routes surrounded by lush greenery and local wildlife. A stop is made at Quebrada Platanillo, a micro-basin of the Arenal River, known for its water supply and the impressive Watusi bulls, recognized for their unique horns.
The next destination is the charming village of La Guaria, which preserves the “fortuneños” culture. Here, visitors explore the church and an old local store (pulpería). The journey continues along open trails, crossing natural puddles, until reaching the Arenal River, where there is a pause to take photos and appreciate the scenery.
On the return trip, a stop is made at Rancho La Poza for a snack and some relaxation in its outdoor pool.
