A great opportunity to learn about chocolate and coffee (and to make chocolate!) - My kids and I loved the chocolate and coffee tour at Don Juan. Our tour guide, Kairo, engaged the kids really well throughout the tour. The emphasis was more on chocolate than coffee, which suited us just fine. The highlight of the tour was the chance to make our own chocolate: grinding beans, adding things like sugar and vanilla, and then shaping into a bar to bring home. We also got a chance to sample hot chocolate and coffee at various points in the tour. We all learned a lot and had a great time (the kids were even enticed into trying coffee!).

A must see for chocolate and coffee lovers - The tour was very interesting (for young and old) and interactive. This was due to our very enthusiastic guide, Yen (yes, just like the currency in Japan). The plantations were covered so when it rains (and it does a lot in la fortuna) it is the perfect activity. I don’t want to spoil to much for you but you even get to make your own chocolate ;) The facts you receive about your day to day coffee and chocolate are enriching and are sure to impress your friends at home. All in all, I strongly recommend!

Very interesting tour - This tour was so interesting and gave me a new found respect for the making of chocolate and especially coffee. Our Tour guide, Gigi, was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of good step by step details. We made our own chocolate bars and then got to try freshly brewed coffee. I enjoyed the tour very much.

Amazing Experience - Our guide, Sergio, was so good and his enthusiasm rubbed off on the group during the tour. It was clear by the entire staff that their aim was to make sure we had an amazing experience. The tour was informative, the right length, and good price. I would do this tour again and recommend to friends and family.

Fun making your own chocolate - An educational tour where we hear a lot about both cocoa grain cultivation and coffee grain cultivation. Very fun to get crushed cocoa beans and make their own chocolate! Knowledgeful and very nice guide.

Hands on and informative tour in a beautiful setting! - Can’t recommend this tour enough! Our guide, Yen, was so fun and informative. The tour was very hands on and we got to make our own chocolate and coffee while learning about the process. Added bonuses were seeing a 2 week old baby sloth up close and a wonderful view of the volcano.

Sign up now for this unique tour! - What an amazing tour! We saw chocolate and coffee in various stages of its growth and even made a chocolate bar. It was one of the best tours I've ever been on. Alex was such a knowledgeable guide, and he even pointed out some sloths to us. Would definitely do this tour again!

Our favorite coffee/chocolate tour! - We did a total of 3 chocolate/coffee tours during our trip, and this was our favorite. We lucked out and it was just my wife and I during our booking time (9:00am) so we got a "private tour." Both the chocolate and coffee portions were very educational. It was very interesting to see both of these household staples at each stage, from being planted to the final product. Creating your own chocolate was definitely a highlight of the tour! We also saw plenty of wildlife, including a momma sloth and her baby that were living in the area. What elevated the tour even more was our guide Yen. My wife and I had a great time being led around by Yen, who was very funny and down to earth. He would also grab us some delicious fresh fruit as we went about the tour.

Don Juan La Fortuna - Chocolate Tour - We are not coffee drinkers, so we skipped the coffee part and just did the chocolate tour. I had a blast - we got to try a seed from a cacao pod and learn the entire process from cacao tree to chocolate treat. We even got to make our own chocolates! A lot of fun but turns out it's a lot harder than I thought it would be to make chocolate that actually tastes good. I'll stick with the stuff the professionals make. :> Alex was our guide and did an impeccable job of sharing info about the process and keeping the group engaged, including pointing out sloths in the trees!! Free samples at the end along with a free coffee & hot chocolate tasting in the gift shop.
