Chocolate and coffee tour, making chocolate, tasting chocolate and coffee, see fauna and flora - The tour was fascinating and amazing. Our guide knew a lot about the cocoa and coffee plant and it's process but as well about the other plants. Something special was that he showed us different animals like turtle or a mama slot. The best part for us was making our own chocolate from roasted cocoa beans to a fixed chocolate bar. Really interesting was as well tasting different coffees and hot chocolate as well as cocoa tea.

Fun and Informative - Really great and informative tour. Brandon really knew his stuff and had a really enjoyable way to bring that knowledge across. Great tasting chocolate, sugarcane, and coffee in various stages of the process. Highly recommended!

A great opportunity to learn about chocolate and coffee (and to make chocolate!) - My kids and I loved the chocolate and coffee tour at Don Juan. Our tour guide, Kairo, engaged the kids really well throughout the tour. The emphasis was more on chocolate than coffee, which suited us just fine. The highlight of the tour was the chance to make our own chocolate: grinding beans, adding things like sugar and vanilla, and then shaping into a bar to bring home. We also got a chance to sample hot chocolate and coffee at various points in the tour. We all learned a lot and had a great time (the kids were even enticed into trying coffee!).

A must see for chocolate and coffee lovers - The tour was very interesting (for young and old) and interactive. This was due to our very enthusiastic guide, Yen (yes, just like the currency in Japan). The plantations were covered so when it rains (and it does a lot in la fortuna) it is the perfect activity. I don’t want to spoil to much for you but you even get to make your own chocolate ;) The facts you receive about your day to day coffee and chocolate are enriching and are sure to impress your friends at home. All in all, I strongly recommend!

Very interesting tour - This tour was so interesting and gave me a new found respect for the making of chocolate and especially coffee. Our Tour guide, Gigi, was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of good step by step details. We made our own chocolate bars and then got to try freshly brewed coffee. I enjoyed the tour very much.

Amazing Experience - Our guide, Sergio, was so good and his enthusiasm rubbed off on the group during the tour. It was clear by the entire staff that their aim was to make sure we had an amazing experience. The tour was informative, the right length, and good price. I would do this tour again and recommend to friends and family.

Fun making your own chocolate - An educational tour where we hear a lot about both cocoa grain cultivation and coffee grain cultivation. Very fun to get crushed cocoa beans and make their own chocolate! Knowledgeful and very nice guide.

Chocolate and Coffee tours - We had Brian as our tour guide and he was great, very knowledgeable, I’d give him 5 stars, but this review is for the tour overall, including the structure of it. The tour was outdoors so you definitely need bug spray. We started with the chocolate, lots of information, there was a station to make personal chocolate bars from cacao nibs, my issue with this one was that this was done in an open area that didn’t seem hygienic, there were ingredients in the table that weren’t even sealed. This method of making a chocolate bar was not good because the chocolate was very bitter, we all tried our bars and quickly threw them to the trash. We did get ~4 small chocolate samples at the end but with little information about them but the name and that you could buy at the gift shop. The coffee tour was more or less the same, we only got to try one small cup of coffee at the end of tour, was hoping for more tasting than so much information. Maybe we had different expectations, but to be honest I thought we’d do more tasting. For reference, my kids are 12 and 14 and they were very bored. So I wouldn’t recommend this tour for kids.
