• Arenal Volcano - Explore one of the most renowned forests in Costa Rica and globally, the tropical rainforest nestled at the base of two volcanoes, Arenal Volcano and Cerro Chato Volcano. This adventure will provide insight into the history of the country’s formation, the volcanoes in the region, the local climate, and the diverse flora and fauna. Notable bird species include toucans, tanagers, hummingbirds, and parrots. Amphibians and reptiles such as glass frogs, tree frogs, rain frogs, and toads like the humid forest toad or the giant toad are present, along with snakes like corals and vipers such as the bocaracá, stone hand, or the famous velvet. Mammals such as coatis, armadillos, opossums, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, and squirrel monkeys can be observed, as well as a wide variety of plants including orchids, bromeliads, ferns, mosses, and flowering plants.

This activity offers an opportunity to explore the enchanting nocturnal wonders of the tropical rainforest, guided by a knowledgeable Naturalist Guide. Participants will traverse the trails in one of La Fortuna’s prime locations to admire the local flora and fauna at the base of the Arenal Volcano, specifically at Senderos and Mirador El Silencio.

The journey into the forest aims to discover the hourglass tree frog, the Blue Jeans poison dart frog, the country’s largest frog, the “Smoky Jungle Frog,” and Costa Rica’s most stunning, the red-eyed tree frog.

Additionally, this area provides the chance to observe various species of leaf insects, stick insects, and snakes, including the eyelash viper, Snail eater, Fer-de-lance, the jumping Viper, and coral snakes. Some mammals, such as sloths, opossums, and anteaters, may also be spotted.
