Highlights
  • Sloth’s Territory - Enjoying this activity in at 8:00 a.m. at 2:00 p.m. or have a night hike at 5:30 p.m. Two-toed sloths are nocturnal, and easier to see them active in the evenings.
We will pick you up at your hotel at your chosen schedule and start this exciting journey into the sloths’ territory, which is within a small family-friendly eco-project just 5 minutes from La Fortuna. The project has a path of 1500 m. (A little less than a mile) suitable for adults, families, and children of all ages; we will make a tour of approximately 2 hours in the midst of plants, a river bordering the property and of course you can not miss the Guarumo trees, the favorite food of sloths in Costa Rica.
During the tour, we highlight the importance of its protection, as illegal trade has grown due to its increasing popularity. Because of this, Ecoterra along with the Rodríguez family are maintaining this privileged area to protect the sloths. At the end of this natural experience, we will drive you back to your hotel

So many beautiful sloths spotted by our guide Jazmin - We loved this small group tour with Jazmin! She taught us so much about both species of sloth, helped us take great photos and had a cool, calm demeanor even though it was extremely hot weather. I highly recommend this experience if you want to see sloths in their natural environment - and ask for Jazmin. This was our second tour experience with her and we were so excited to see that she was our guide.

Great experience - We were very fortunate to see and experience the sloths moving about and we learned so much from our guide Jasmine. Jasmine was so passionate about the protection of the sloths, but ensured that we were able to observe the sloths without impacting them. She made the experience so much better - we were so happy to have her as our guide!

Baby sloth! - This was terrific!! Sloths are my favorite and it was really nice to see them in their natural habitat. We were lucky enough to see 4 sloths on our tour and one with a baby! The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the sloths and Costa Rica in general.

Ecofriendly company, great tour guide - Ecoterra was chosen by our tour company (Pacific Trade Winds), but I'd definitely book more tours through them when I return to Costa Rica. Our tour guide through Sloth's Territory emphasized the ecological mindset of the company. She was so knowledgeable about the ecology of Costa Rica, the animals and plants. She was very friendly and personable, I got a lot of information without ever feeling like I was in a lecture.

A wonderful, cultural family experience! - We actually had two days with Ecoterra! The first day was the sloth observatory! We were led by Joseway (spelling?) who was absolutely awesome! We had a great experience looking for the sloths! Then we went to family’s house and got to experience their farm, make chocolate from cacao, juice from sugarcane, and eat with her family! It was truly a rich culture experience for the kids! We also did the night walk, which was tons of fun and full of interesting creatures! We then had a beautiful dinner in a family’s home and was able buy some of their homemade crafts! Although I forget the leaders name, he was full of energy and knowledge! Thank you for a wonderful family experience !

Sloths with Elena! - Elena picked us up at the hotel and took us to Sloths Territory. We absolutely loved this tour. We were able to see quite a few sloths, including 2 babies!! We got some great pictures and learned a lot about the environment. Both families would highly recommend this tour. Elena was so kind and answered all of kids ridiculous questions!!

Thanks, Alberto! - Spotting sloths with their babies was really special! So many different plants and animals on this tour....parades of Leaf Cutter Ants, Caimans relaxing in calm pools of water, rushing streams, frogs, fungi, orchids. Albert(o), our EccoTerra Guide for this activity and the Campesino Farm Tour that followed, was patient and very knowledgeable. Our family of 11 had a great time!

Best sloth tour in LaFortuna - Pleasant walk through the property to view sloths, birds, flora and fauna. Anthony was our guide, Very professional and loaded with information. We spotted 6 sloths, one was a mama and her baby, and so close for pictures. He also showed us and explained the story of the leaf cutter ants, Fascinating. We ended our tour with a snack of fresh fruit. Would highly recommend this sloth tour
