- Venado - Tour begin from la fortuna to The Venado Caves are approximately 35km east of the town with the same name and about 45 minutes away from La Fortuna, San Carlos.
You can head deep into the bowels of the earth on this amazing expedition. Underground trails and passages will take us through several different caves to explore a world indifferent to the light.
With lanterns to illuminate our way, as well as the necessary gear, we will enter this labyrinth of ancient underground rivers and sea beds, now exposed after millions of years. We will visit formations such as”the papaya”,” the coral “,” the altar “, and “the birthing canal”, as well as stalactite and stalagmite rock formations that are common inside the caves, some of which hang from the rocky ceiling and others emerge from the ground. Large colonies of bats inhabit the caverns, as well as frogs and crabs.
At the end of the tour you can enjoy a delicious snack of fresh fruit.

Geniale Tour - Great cave tour, the best thing we did in CR. Great bat observation / Closer look at Vampier bats. We waited and slid through crevices that, from a closer look, were not designed for human access and ended up in Huge cavities inside the cave, where you climbed an almost huge vertical wall to the exit of the cavity with the help of the guide. I 14 did the tour with my mother (47), my little sister 7 and my father did not participate in the tour. The guide said we could have taken her. In fact, after the tour my mother felt that we should take her with us.

Fun adventure in the caves! - This was so cool! Some climbing and physical abilities needed but not too much. My 17 year old daughter loved it! Our guide was great! I'm pretty sure his name was Diego! Definitely recommend for a unique experience!!

Favorite Excursion - Learning the history of how the cave came to be and it’s on going ecological processes from our very knowledgable guide was really interesting. It felt like the movies moving through the cave, crawling, squeezing past tight places, and climbing up. Definitely was nervous but with our guide, everything was possible.

Perfect - Awesome pictures! Great experience! I felt like I was in some Indiana jones movies. Going to the narrows and going down trough the hole was awesome! And our tour guide was nice!

A thrilling and educational experience, truly wild yet tame at the same time! - My father and I went and had an amazing time, the guide taught us about the millions of years of history all while showing us all of the cool critters & formations. Definitely challenging sometimes but the challenging paths are optional, I highly reccomend coming here for a wild yet fascinating experience.

Great experience for a real Costa Rica adventure - Booked a day in advanced no problem. Guide messaged for pickup location and we opted to meet at the caves due to it being a shorter drive. We went on a Monday morning and had the cave to ourselves. Joshua, our guide was great, he was friendly and easy to understand, as well as having a great sense of humor and knowledge of the caves. We were encouraged to go through the narrow openings while in the cave which made the experience much more fun. I’m 6’3 180lbs and had no problems. If you enjoy your rice and beans just make sure to stretch beforehand, as you will be low crawling and scooting around through small areas. We were provided with refreshments afterwards as well as towels and a place to shower. Bring a change of clothes. I did not bring my phone but had my go pro on a head mount which worked great. If you bring your phone I suggest getting a waterproof bag for it, as you will be crawling on hands and knees and the water level changes day to day.

Gonzalo Guía was a very... - Gonzalo Guía was a very knowledgeable and amazing tour guide. It was my first time ever doing something like this. But, he made it and enjoyable and fun experience. Would definitely recommend!

Cave exploration - This was an absolutely fantastic experience. Definitely glad I choose to wear the rubber boots, as you can choose to use your own sneakers. I did not get as dirty as I thought I would, but still best to bring a change of clothing, just in case. The group I was in was very small, which honestly, added tremendously to my enjoyment of the experience given the tight spaces and how humid it will become in the caves.
The guide was incredibly friendly, shared his knowledge of the caves, and made sure everyone had a good time.

Get wet. Get dirty - awezome! - Aaron set a leasurely and safe pace through an amazing cave experience. Get dirty, crawl really low and learn about history and geology on this excursion . Bad knees, don't go. Claustrophobic? Maybe skip. Up for something different, this is for you.

Cave Hike - Amazing, what an experience! - The cave hike was amazing. We did not know what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. Our Guide Gonzalez was very good! He took pictures of us at different points, on our phone.
We had a rental car and didn’t need to be picked up. We thought we were booking directly thru the owners of the Venado Caves but no. You can save money by booking directly thru them.
