I'm still looking up more of what I learned! - We loved it! If you're at all a "history nerd" you'll find this ticket worth every dollar spent. We also added the harbor tour on the Pilot and found it very informative. The only caution I would offer is that parking is limited to 3 hrs and you can't "feed the meter;" you have to move to a different lot.

Enjoyed The Ships and Learning About Maritime History - Brought my family to visit the museum, but I've visited the museum several times before. It is a real treasure to find so much to do and see here. because there is so much to see and learn about maritime history, I recently became a museum member. Got to know the Docents who demonstrate the vertical triple-expansion steam engine and pumps on the Berkeley ferry. Got to know the Docents that give tours on the Pilot boat and took a short ride. Got to know the Docents that give tours on the swift boat and listened as they shared stories about the Navy and combat. After my visit, I returned and took a four-hour sail tour on the top-sail schooner California operated by the museum, this was a great way to see and experince the bay. The museum staff was very helpful, so I decided to start volunteering here as a Docent.

Fun stop - This was a last minute decision and I’m so glad we did it. Our 4 (almost 5) loved it. There’s lots to see. They had volunteers who told us all about the ships. Worth the time for sure

All Aboard - We loved turning the variety of boats and were enthralled with the historical value each held. The docents offered wonderful tidbits of information and it made out visit even more enjoyable. We would definitely visit again.

Get off the beaten path and onto historical ships! - Want to do something different than the touristy stuff on San Diego Bay? Get on the Dolphin submarine, look through the periscope, and imagine what it was like to be 3000 feet undersea! Go under deck on the Star of India and imagine what it was like to be with 400 other emigrants for 5 months at sea! Take a tour of the bay on a 100+ year old ship and go under the Coronado bridge while looking at current Navy ships! So many things to see, and definitely something different to do (and kid friendly!) Thank you to the many volunteers that make this experience possible!

Wonderful Museum - A very interesting museum. You walk from ship to ship. The ships range from a Spanish Galleon to a US submarine that made the deepest dive ever (38000 feet) to the ship used in Pirates of the Carribean to the oldest iron clipper ship (commissioned during Abe Lincoln's tenure). There is a wanderful museum on a huge ferry. All in all, about ten ships. We spent several hours going through them.

False advertising all around. Beware! - The submarine is closed in even a slight mist but they don’t tell you until AFTER you buy your ticket, and no refunds. Also the Soviet submarine is no longer there even though it’s on their website. The website says it is “put out to pasture“, but a normal reader would just assume that it is no longer operative in the museum, not that it’s no longer at the museum at all. If it isn’t there at all, why have a whole web page about it as if it were? Just deceptive all around.
