Interesting and new information about San Diego and its haunted past - The meeting point is very vague. The address is actually at the Balboa Theater Backstage Door. It was a little confusing when I was trying to find our tour guide.

Worth it - The guide tried very hard. There were many interesting stories to hear in the Gaslamp Quarter about ghosts and crime.

Fun experience - This is a fun walking tour where you get to hear some of the spooky history of the Gaslamp district. Fernando was a great host and made the tour interesting and fun. We didn’t see any ghosts that night, but maybe they saw us…

Fernando is an AMAZING guide! - We were lucky enough to end up on a private tour with Fernando and it was amazing beginning to end! His knowledge about the city and it's architecture only add to his ghostly stories and knowledge. 11/10 would recommend!

A good time - It was a good time. Lots of great info. The only downside was when onlookers joined our tour. It was a little annoying, but not unbearable.

Might want to consider other walking ghost tours. - Short answer: Maybe every other tour has gone well but from my family’s one and only experience, I do not recommend choosing this company. We went to the posted meeting location (868 Fourth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101) 15 minutes before tour start (7:45pm) as instructed. The tour guide actually walked past us at some point while we were with other waiting customers (9 total) without asking whether we were there for the tour. We only found out this was the case after being notified by an employee from the Balboa theater that the tour guide had left. We called the tour number and were told to meet the tour guide at one of the stops. We walked to the Horton Grand Hotel and met with the tour guide who was not carrying a lantern like what was stated in the instructions. By that point it was already about 8:20. We had waited for almost 30 minutes and walked for about 5 minutes to meet with the tour guide. When asked what had happened, she did not take responsibility for the overlooking us stating that many customers do not show up and that a lot of people stand around and it’s difficult to know who is just hanging out on the street. While I’m sure that those statements are true, a group of 9 people were lined up right under the 868 address number, in front of a random wall that was not near any other existing line. It really would not have taken much effort to just ask if we were there for the tour. Despite that, I’m giving this event a 2 out of 5, but only because the guide could tell decent stories and the criticism from the other customers didn’t derail her. Though, the majority of the group (total of 11) were already disappointed by how everything started and also by the tour guide’s nonchalant response. Even at the end she reiterated her position that it wasn’t her fault. There should have been compensation, like a partial refund or at the very least an offer to take us to the missed location. The unprofessional way this was all handled will definitely push me to write further reviews anywhere else to inform any future customers. Also, we only got to walk into one building. The rest were standing right outside with the occasional loudness of downtown overtaking the stories so consider that as well.

A guide to avoid, she spoiled the whole experience - I bought this for my son's bday (new to SD) and totally regret it. He and 8 other people were at the meeting point at 7:45pm, as instructed. At 8:11pm he texted me that the guide was nowhere to be seen, that one of the group was on the phone with the company who didn't know where the guide was either. At 8:17, the company told them where to find her, 7mn walk away. She had started the tour with only 2 people, told the others "I don't go up to people at night" (even when there are 9 of them, standing at a meeting point??). She did not apologize, she did not introduce herself, and refused to start the tour over. (She also was not carrying a lantern, as the instructions said, which would have helped people locate her). She told them a story without much enthusiasm and told them to go inside the hotel where it happened and look around). So my advice, given that there are excellent reviews, is that you call ahead and ask who the guide is.
