Quick tour of San Diego - Two days on this Trolley Tour in San Diego. Old Town Trolley never disappoints, whatever city you’re in! First day we jumped off at Coronado Island. Del Hotel is in/has bee in scaffolding since they began remolding a year or so ago! Lunch we are at McP’s Irish Pub! Just so happens Navy Seals having a reunion this weekend! How cool was that! Roamed around Maritime & Midway! To Do list, eat at Top Guns BBQ place. Day 2, off at Coronado again & Barrios! Lunch in Old Towne, dinner at Filipinas. Delicious + supper tomorrow!

A GREAT way to see all the highlights of San Diego - This is THE BEST way to see San Diego & get the lay of the land to determine where you want to go. All our instructors were entertaining: Mitchell, Alejandra, & MB. This is a great way to see Coronado & the famous hotel. A few tips: - We drove to Old Town to pickup the trolly early in the AM & there was plenty of free public parking. - We explored Coronado for about one hour & then got Fish & Chips at Mc Ps Irish pub. Food & service were good (get the Guinness Gravy on the side) + 10% discount with your trolley tour sticker. -There is a market in Little Italy on Saturdays - check hours but on Memorial Day weekend it was BUSY. We walked the area for a short time. -We visited the shops in Old Town after, which were great! We went 9 AM to 3 PM & were TIRED. (We got off the trolley for a total of 3 stops.) -Do Seaport Village & the Port area separately as you could spend a full day here. These shops are so unique & the area is beautiful. We spent 3 hours (included dinner) the night before to save time on Trolley Day. -We are going back another day to explore the USS Midway. (The ports & Seaport Village are really short walking distance from each other & you could easily spend one full day exploring this area.) —Do the San Diego Zoo separately because it is 20 mins from the trolley stop in Balboa Park. Enjoy! Depending on where you are staying you may want to do two days to get around town. We had a rental, so one day was good for us. Just make sure you take advantage of Coronado on Trolley Day.

Always a good start - We have taken similar tours in other cities and this one was just as good. Great way to see the city for your first time . We planned it out in advance, so we had a good idea where we wanted to get off. We took the whole day and recommend doing so. Favorite stops included Hotel del Coronado, harbor front, Balboa Park ( but many attractions are closed on Mondays!). We did not leave enough time for Little Italy, but will next time.

If you are newbie to the city, do this trolley tour first, then pick out spots you saw to explore. - Go on this trolley tour the first day you are in San Diego! I got lucky with the weather as I went in mid-December. I picked the trolley up just around the corner from my hotel - how convenient! We did switch drivers in Old Town but both were really knowledgeable and the flow of information the drivers provided was perfect tempo. It was a beautiful tour, and should definitely do this the first day of your stay in the city if you are a total newbie; you will see a whole bunch of things on the tour that you will want to come back and explore more in depth another day. You can take this tour and then plan your activities for the rest of your stay!

Poor experience for families with young kids - Not great for families with young kids. We were visiting my brother in San Diego. Despite the expense, we opted for the trolley tour and had a pretty bad experience. With nap times, we really needed/ tried to get everything in in the morning/early afternoon. After we had made two stops, it was time to head back. We waited at the station for the next trolley... but it was full. It was starting to rain heavily with lots of wind. We called and asked what our options were as there were 8 of us, including a 6 month old, 2 year old, and 5 year old. They said they would send a trolley in 8 minutes. Trolley arrives 20 minutes later, and it is full. We are drenched, baby crying, 2 year old crying and late for nap. Finally, an hour after we arrived to catch our first trolley, a trolley arrives to take us home.  I called multiple times during this window to try to get help. I also asked for a refund/partial refund given the poor experience with multiple full trolleys. They said they would call if they had questions on the refund. They never issued the refund, they never called. I called back twice since then and no one will get back in touch with me.  In addition to the poor experience, we also just didn't get much value out of it. We would have been better off just driving, being in more control of our schedule, and reading about the historical places we visited. If you are traveling with a larger group or young kids, save yourself the headache and expense!
